I wish it was summer so I could practice social distancing in the mountains

Last night, my son starting go through my Charles Wells Colorado Trail Guides books. He first looked at the index and noted which icons on the tail maps indicated camping was allowed, and started writing down trails in his notebook. We’ll be doing a lot of camping this summer apparently, he’s written down 60 trails he wants to camp at this far.

I know one thing, shelf roads aren’t high on my son’s (or wife’s) list of fun things, so I’ll have to make sure to minimize the fear of heights.

Now I just have to wait for all of that mountain snow to melt...

I think the mountains are closed now, aren't they?

Right? I was planning on doing the CT this summer. If it were July, I’d take my two weeks’ vacation now and bike it but there’s way too much snow.

Unfortunately the whole plan might be canceled-not too sure if I’ll have a job in a few days.

Very much so. Hopefully they still aren’t 3,4,5  months from now

Dang, that sucks. I hope everything works out for you.

We had some summer travel plans, but I think they’ve all been canceled now. Just hoping I can get some decent weekends and whatnot in this spring, summer.

This is why I am happy to be in Socal. This is prime hiking/biking season anyways before it gets hot. And since I cant go skiing, I will just go hike and bike a bunch instead. I can access stuff without even driving anywhere but plenty of stuff within 75 miles (work imposed local quarantine until who knows when ).

It’s been beautiful weather wise to hang out on the front range here. Well, until today.  Now it’s snow time for the next couple of days. The mountains, though....typically any higher altitude trails won’t be open until July anyway.

That’s a pretty lake. Where was this? Is there a trailhead there as well?

4runner looks awesome

Chinns Lake. The road to Chinns isn’t too bad, mainly clearance, not technical, issues. Fall River Reservoir is off the same trail. Both do have trailheads, Fall River is easier to get to.

Duh, I’ve been there. I walked to Fall River as the toad was closed when I went. Didn’t take the fork to Chinn’s  though.
