But... That’s the only area not filled with people around here.
I wonder how effective these shutdowns have been. With all the gyms closed, the skatepark, tennis courts, basketball courts, and parks have been absolutely mobbed. More people than I’ve ever seen in those respective places in my 10+ years living here. Downtown waterfront shopping area, similarly packed. Guess when a huge part of the workforce, and all the kids have free time... They congregate outside on days like this!

Pretty gutsy being a couple miles from the hot zone.
But that’s how people can be here, book smart, street stupid.

Same in SF as I understand. Folks are out enjoying the day spreading the infection.

Being outside should be less dangerous, though you are supposed to be staying 6 feet from everyone, and not doing things like passing around a ball that everyone is touching.

I think a lot of people are just saying fuck it. I can’t exactly blame them, given our local and federal government’s lack of anything even close to resembling a comprehensive plan to get through this.

On the plus side, our mayor * might* allow cocktail deliveries to stem the near endless str eam of bars and restaurants shutting down permanently!

I think it’s a good idea frankly. Restaurants can still do delivery/takeout (and with online ordering services, that’s easier than ever to set up), but they make a lot of money on alcohol, so letting them sell drinks (mixed or otherwise) along with delivery orders might be a low risk way to help them out. I’m sure there would be concerns about under-aged drinking (by either the customer, or the delivery guys) , but presumably those could be addressed.

It's definitely a good step, but I can't help but think it's much too little, too late.

If only “fuck it” had the possibility to impact only them. However, I understand this is a shortsighted society.
Kind of irritating too, look at this weather and ample free time, but what can one do.

It seems the comprehensive plan is burn everything to the ground and hope that works, and regroup at some undefined future date.
