I got my mom a BFI shift knob in black w/ red perforated leather for her GTI . I thought a red “coin” with the BFI badge would might look cooler than the black one it came with. So I got two. One is nice just like a red version of the black one that it comes with (the badge outlines are raised and its painted). The other is the same badge but a printed/etched logo on a flat coin... I emailed them, they responded quickly and are sending another nice red one! Anyway my mom chose the red over the black. Here are some bad pictures.

I already have the same knob (silver/black perforated leather) but because I am stupid I mounted it so that the seam in the leather is visible to me. To fix this I had to remove the coin and now I am faced with a decision. Do I add a splash of red to my completely black and silver interior, or do I just spin the knob around and correctly re-install the black coin?

Here you can see what it might look like with the crappy red coin and the seam facing the wrong direction.

Really fucked this up. Seams don’t match and the badge line does not match either seam

thoughts on the BFI knob overall? I’m having a hard time pulling the trigger, can’t justify the price when I actually kinda like the OEM golfball.

It’s a lot heavier and sits a little lower, I really like it. It was also a huge class up for my Alltrack.

Honestly no shift knob is “worth” the $ to me as it’s mostly aesthetics but I have a nice one in almost every car, haha.

So what you’re telling us is that you have an unsightly seam going down the side of your knob - and your solution is to yank your knob, twist it, and play with the tip while you’re at it?

Man keep this stuff to yourself please :p

But in reality - let us know what you end up doing ;)

I say keep the black and silver, more restrained.

it’s automatically “worth it” if it brings you enjoyment and adds a little personal flavor!
