Since we are “retail”, and have less than 10 people in close proximity in the dealership, we are expected to stay here and work.
Customers’ cars can be picked up/delivered to their home.. and sales is being asked to present cars in person at peoples homes and do most of the paperwork online.
Not that it matters, no one is spending money on thier cars at the moment.
They’re still spending it on TP and soap.

We remain open as well . Our county is not yet under a shelter in place order, just recommended measures. People are still calling to schedule and having work done, but business is clearly falling off a cliff. We’re essentially just buttoning up work that was on the books already. At least we can still get parts deliveries. This is going to hurt.

I was seriously considering buying a car until this weekend. This disaster news really puts a dampe ner on my feelings of cash flow security.

I work for a Multi Billion dollar Gold Mine, so Business as usual.
I’m in north western Quebec , and since our region has no Corona virus cases yet. All operations are up and running. Only the staff with health problems have been sent home to work.

We just got our first confirmed COVID-19 case in our county. Like, literally just before I came here to respond.
We have a few people coming in, and I think if we put together a pick up and delivery plan we might stay busy enough to keep the lights on, but man. As a salary + commission employee its gonna be rough for the next few weeks or months.

Its spreading pretty quick down here. Probably because people are finally taking thier sick asses to the hospital.
I know of one personally who has no insurance, is of older age, and is sick and tried to go to work yesterday and was sent home after a few hours of coughing all over the place.
Probably too little too late, but that’s how it is here. No one wants to pay to go to a doctor, and our insurance sucks IF we have some.

Sales will be hurting and who knows, the OEMs might throw some big incentives out there for April.
BUT, yeah, I wouldn’t enter into a long term financial decision right now.

Auto parts supplier warehouse guy here. We're still open but the supply chain is starting to crack.

I’m entirely commission, running the shop. Good thing there’s been relief for mortage/rent and outrageous health insurance premiums/deductibles and OH WAIT. I’ll believe that when I see the money in the bank. Our county went from 3 cases to 6 yesterday, but it’s a rural area of CA. The counties north and south of us have now enacted shelter in place, word from friends in local gov’t is we’ll get it later today. Repair shops being deemed “essential” means we’ll do everything possible to keep doors open, but this is the point when I need to plan to close up shop . The owner is having brain surgery and left little to no guidance or assurance , so it’s my call. Fun times.

Signed a lease in January...now I have 34 months left on that contract, and the future isn’t looking too good. Wish I had held off at this point since I’m not even driving anywhere for the foreseeable future (and have 2 other cars) - hopefully not a decision that will make or break us in the coming months.

we are a small region of 147000 people scattered across 57,736.50 square kilometres (22,292.19 sq mi) The city I live in, Rouyn-noranda (population 43000) is 700km ( 7 hours) north of montreal. It takes some time for thing to reach us, in the case of the corona virus thats good.
yes as a canadian we have free health care, but since i work for a very large gold mine, we have one of the best private insurances in the country. My employer covers all the insurance costs, and they cover everthing, (pills glasses, dental) and my deductibles are very very tiny. (our health system doesn’t cover these)
I was off for 6 weeks since i got operated for a hernia, and my employer covers the first 3 months of my salary, longer than that our insurance pays.
Since i started working here i feel like i hit the jackpot.

Sounds like a return to days past with a modern twist. Email/cell number on front page of website and cell number again on front door for emergency work. Maybe haul a cot in and take turns doing couple day shifts?

I walked into a dealership to do an inspection on Monday and the sales guys surrounded me like vultures. Sorry, no money to be made from me.

Thats if the government allows us out of the house in April. They could mandate all these restrictions until the vaccine is approved. In which case, the joke would be on them, because I won't have a house to quarantine in by then.

I’m working on plans along those lines, I already put a bunch of protocol in place on Monday . Training up one of the guys to run the office program should I or my assistant drop, thinking about tech rotations (if they stay healthy) to evenly distribute what work there is. We had a client ask about mobile work, which would cause our insurance to shit its pants and we’re really not set up for, but it’s also something to think about. We have room to crash a couple guys here if need be, but three of us are supporting families on our incomes alone and need to be home for wives and kids. I just wish the owner had any plan at all given his age, frailty and status. More info and access to financials would be really helpful right now.

The experience of everywhere else is that by the time one case gets confirmed by testing there are likely 100 more that haven’t been tested, so expect that number to go up rapidly.
