This just popped up on my NYT news alert:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends no gatherings of 50 or more people in the U.S. for the next eight weeks.

So they recommend against grocery stores, huh?

Not necessarily. People gotta eat. You generally don’t sit or stand close together in the store.

People are going to get angry, and people are going to revolt. Either a million US citizens are going to die from the virus, or a million are going to die from riots in the streets.

It was more a joke about how crazy stores are right now.

Yeah it’s going to get a lot worse over the next week I fear.
Just this weekend, I had a friend report that he has the symptoms. Exactly 14 days after we got together. And, two people in my wife’s office were definitely exposed the other day, so they’re shut down.
Stay healthy my friends!

Let the panicking begin!

Looking at what is going on at the supermarket already, this is easy to believe.

Yep...
Bars and restaurants here are closed until 4/5, but it’s quite possible that will be extended.
And yeah, sounds like bad times for professional musicians, hopefully things can be worked out. Or maybe you need to target performances for the very rich? Backyard symphony seems like a great way to show off for the neighbors...

I can’t go 8 weeks without income so I’ll either be driving all over the country (if I’m lucky) or trying to figure out how to shoplift some food.

Considering that it's just a recommendation at this point, I assume that a lot of people will ignore it.

Our union just sent out a side letter to our contract addressing just this. We have a show in three weeks that will almost certainly be canceled, but they are looking for ways to stream it or PPV or something. Of course, a stage full of musicians is way more than the 50 that the CDC recommends, and I’m sure some of the musicians will refuse to play. It will be interesting.
