It is tragic indeed. Italia, we’re in this together, stay strong.

Everything will turn out okay.

As for me. I am in Spain right now. I’ve been to Rome last month but I’m virus free for now. With the travel ban and the lockdown here. I’m not sure when I’ll see America again, but I’m good. Wash those hands and stay safe Oppo. And be thankful for the medical professionals and other responders that ta ke on the virus head on. Like these people are:

Stay healthy!

As bad as things are in Europe right now, I see nothing to indicate that we aren’t just a week or two behind Spain or France in the progression. Hopefully we can avoid what has happened in Italy, but our response thus far hasn’t given me great confidence.

And yet there are still people saying it’s no worse than the flu. Even those pricks that think that. Surely they can think, ‘hang on, this is in addition to the flu deaths, etc...’.

This needs to be taken seriously because with the flu, we can vacinate, prepare, we know it’s actions, etc...

In the case of the Coronavirus, we don’t much about it, yes, we know it presents bilateral interstitial pneumonia which is more serious for those who are elderly, reduced lung volume, etc.. . People that had it and recovered are getting it again, some areas are still showing massive increase.

It's weird. Immune system should be able to keep a known virus at bay for a while. Unless it is affected itself.

That’s not too bad, if the virus can hit the upper bracket in the region before it spreads too much, it can be contained.

Americans are going to have to eat humble pie in the next few weeks and months. We were in one of the b est positions to prepare for this and learn from what China went through , but all we saw was denial and deflecting until this week when communities finally began to lock down .

The theory is the symptoms just subsided for a bit,  and that they never really got better. There are indications it can “live” in people for up to five weeks.

Somebody in your government said that once 60% of the population has had the virus then their resulting immunity would be enough to stem the spread of the disease. Thing is, 60% of your population is 36m and if you take a very optimistic mortality rate of 1% that’s 360,000 people dead. It’s going to get much worse.

We have basically mimicked China’s poor response, minus the whole disappearing people who speak out against the government.

Herd immunity happens closer to 80%.   There are also two strains and one appears to be much worse.  Thankfully most cases appear to be the milder version.

I only read a little about this, but it appears Trump (this comment is not pro or against, just a feeling towards the government action in general) was trying to lure away a German vaccine company so the US would have exclusive use. That seems inane that we (the USA) wouldn’t in a collaborative fashion on world wide issue. Again, there might be more to the story so I am hoping it was a reporting error.

Given the rate in Italy, I can’t see how they think the peak is going to be mid/end may. Even worse without banning large gatehrings or sporting events.

Well that’s the thing, it’s new and we don’t know how resilient it is, some in China believe it’s already mutated. We’re all still in the learning stage. In China they are experimenting on 200 with HIV anti viral drugs, but it's shown to be resilient to anti viral so far.

What he's said has been stupid enough but there's so many conspiracies out there from China did it deliberately, the U.S. instigated it, that it was NATO, etc... I just don't entertain any of the conspiracies.

The Federal Ministry of Health in Berlin confirmed a corresponding report to the world on Sunday. US President Donald Trump is trying to lure German scientists to America with high financial donations or to secure the drug exclusively for his country, according to government circles. A US government official told AFP that the report was “extremely exaggerated.”
