I when I wind up working from home and/or in isolation, a whole new F1 2019 career mode is my plan.

Not as of now but I think it’s likely.

It’s awesome! Totally necessary for anyone who drives a real race car, and definitely worth the investment for someone who knows they’ll be involved in sim racing for a long time.

How do you like the VR? I am struggling big time with triples and depth perception. I am perpetually turning in late.

My old G27 is still working well, even if it is really showing it’s age. I really want to go direct drive to replace it but its quite the investment.

I swear by it, and a lot of others do too. Others don’t like it and prefer triple screens. I think the pro s and con s are these:

Pros: Improved depth perception; 1:1 realistic head-tracking; improved sense of presence/spatial awareness (a car behind you is actually behind you); improved sense of scale; lower input lag.

Cons: Lower reso lution, especially at far distances; lower field of view compared to triples (most headsets have a narrower horizontal field of view than your eyes can see, i.e. no peripheral vision ); can’t see your real-world steering wheel (but you CAN see your in-game wheel) ; can’t see any other secondary screens you may have.

For me the sense of presence, scale, and depth perception not only make it feel more natural, it also makes it a lot more fun. When you buy a game or a car you’re not just buying pictures of a 3D model, you’re almost buying the car itself. You can’t touch it or feel it but it feels like you’re very much in it.

How is the input lag to the animation on the steering wheel? This is where I struggle the most where it breaks immersion

It definitely feels lower, probably for two reasons: the refresh rate on the headset screens are high (at least compared to the 60Hz on the screen I use) , and you can’t see your real wheel so there’s nothing to compare it to.
