The worst part was this lady and I made small talk at the entry. She’s like, “S hoot , I’m just here for suppose for my daycare. Costco was ransacked.” Run into her 30 minutes later... “I... I can’t believe it. Someone stole my cart. Baby food, Kleenex, applesauce, paper towels... I turned my back and...... I can’t believe this...” How awful.

The good news is I got Golden Grahams! Oh, those Golden Grahams... Top Ramen totally cleared out of course . What else here... Two cans of tuna, eggs, and popiseed muffins... Sleepytime tea... Beers!

Zero cleaning products of any kind available. Welp. Careful out there, everyone!

I was just at Trader Joe’s. Not the busiest I’ve seen it (this location doesn’t really have enough parking to get super busy anyway), but I’d say the shelves were probably close to two-thirds empty, and they had signs up begging you to use reusable bags because they were going to run out of paper bags soon.

My wife is a pediatric nurse and of course is dealing with a lot of this panic first hand, but one story that really stood out was yesterday she had a mom come in in tears because she had a sick kid (not Corona) but couldn’t find Tylenol anywhere. I think they got her helped out with some sample bottles until she could order some but the whole thing is ridiculous.

Might be worse in the PNW, but here you can still get gallons of denatured alcohol at Home Depot/ Lowes. Not good for hand sanitizer, but good for surface prep.

Edit: I should say I’ve been using it as a non-aggressive/ finishing cleaner for kitchen and car projects for years. Like if I bleach something I’ll hit it with alcohol after to make sure all the residue is off.

My wife “wants” to go to the store today. If I go anywhere, it’ll be to the liquor store. I imagine the beer lines will be shorter there than at the grocery store.

I’m doing a grocery pickup this afternoon at 4:00 and BOY am I glad I don’t have to go inside . I expect there will be some items missing from our order, or some substitutions maybe. We threw one package of toilet paper on the list because we actually need it ... but I don’t expect that to be in stock. We’ll be fine.

My wife and I went out to buy a few things (TP being one of them), not because we’re on the “it’s the end of the world” bandwagon, but because we know the supply chain is taking a beating right now and we didn ’t want to wait until we run out. We were able to find TP at Sam’s, but only because they happened to be unloading their paper products truck as we arrived. I’d been at the local Wal Mart earlier in the evening and the TP aisle was completely empty except for the signs that said “limit two per customer please”.

There were a few things we weren’t able to get last night, so my wife went out today on her own while I was working. (Again, not hoarding stuff, just doing our normal shopping.) She took a package of TP with her to drop off at our son’s place. ( He’s in his 20's and we knew he wouldn’t have planned ahead, so we had bought a little extra so we could give some to him. Gotta look out for your kids.) As she was leaving, my wife told me (half-jokingly) that she was putting the TP in the trunk so the car didn’t get looted. I thought about it for a moment and decided that sadly, that was probably a good idea.

I feel fortunate that I work from home so I don’t have to wade through the craziness every day.

That is supremely shitty...

My work just went full remote for the next 2 weeks and evaluate going back into the office at that point.

Here in St Louis it seems most people aren’t taking it too seriously but there is definitely cleared out shelves in the grocery store and less traffic on the highway.

Just took a walk in DT Bellevue. Light traffic. Office Depot had TP and towels. H Mart had TP, towels, and ramen. Rite Aid had TP, towels, and likely ramen. None of these are the cheapest places to buy, but there does appear to be stock, if anyone needs it.

Went to the local Ralphs and Costco yesterday since I have basically no groceries at home. Figured I should at least be “normal stocked” so that if shit hits the fan in the next couple weeks im not stuck scrounging for food. The TP aisle and water aisle were obviously completely barren. But odd things like tuna, ramen, and most meat were completely out of stock. Costco had no chickens and also no tuna. So I had to adjust what I was buying a bit but otherwise no real issues. Plenty of people wearing gloves and masks and almost impossible to find a cart even though the store wasnt crowded.

The funniest thing I saw were a couple of younger dudes walking around fake coughing in the store and seeing how people would react. Grade A trolling right there!

Ha! N ot terribly untrue, but the tw in cities metro (where I am) is around 3.5 million. So not crazy small.
