Yeah, inevitable probably.

Disneyland just closed for the duration too.

On the upside. I had tickets for Sunday but due to work commitments I couldn’t make it. So I should  get a refund on the ticket and credit on the flights

Sorry, Pip. I called it earlier. Even though the FIA was dragging their feet on this, there was talk that the other races would go one. And the gates were going to open to the public Friday morning as scheduled. Then it went to be closed to spectators. It was inevitable. It screws up my weekend as well.

Has the start of the AFL been delayed as well?

I was watching this unfold all day. What a shitshow.

They had leaks all day saying it would be cancelled but no official word. Then I think the mayor of Melbourne said that it would go on, but with no spectators. Once again, no official word.

Most news outlets said that the race was cancelled and that Vettel and Raikkonen were already on their way home. Once again no word from the FIA

People were literally lined up at the gates waiting to get it in. And Mercedes released a statement that they felt it was unsafe to go on. And then finally, after hours and hours of silence, they decide to cancel the weekend.

Nice. I think here in the States, flight insurance wasn't covering refunds.  But I haven't been on a flight since late September, so it's probably changed a lot.

Damn, a shit show indeed! Jean Todt and the FIA have dropped the ball twice in as many weeks. First the Ferrari sham, now this. Bahrain was already scheduled to run without spectators next week. They should just call that as well. Sure, no spectators, but you have F1 staff traveling in from an infection zone through Bahrain’s airport and the city, with people already exposed closely to ones that are and where suspected of being infected.

Everyone involved need to self quarantine for 14 days.

This is what happens when there’s poor leadership, poor communication, incompetent authority, ignoring the advice of highly qualified personnel with STEM backgrounds, withholding vital information and replacing it with propaganda and diversion tactics, yet still expecting good results despite showing textbook signs of insanity.

This is Boeing and their 737 Max.*

...bet you thought I was talking about Trump, but no, not specifically.

Trump is just part of the problem since the same mistakes were made in China and most of the Asian Pacific, Austrailia, the Middle East, parts of the European Union, parts of South America, etc.

Who knows what’s going on in Russia or Africa that the world doesn’t know about.

The sad part IMO are when folks thought they were doing the right thing to contain the virus (Japan & U.S. keeping passengers on cruise ships).

*I'm being serious. Also, I can't wait for the multiple Root Cause Analysis reports

AFL start hasn’t been called off yet but it’s pretty much a certainty now. It all depends on the chief medical officer making the official recommen dation and then the State and Federal governments acting on it.
