So that is the THIRD such cylinder we’ve been through. Same thing all three times: Someone put a pipe stick (fork extensions) on our telehandler and attempted to move a 20 foot long piece of 1” thick 48” pipe with it. This is the fork pivot cylinder. The last two times it just snapped. This time it folded over like a noodle.

He fell asleep, coasted across two lanes, the two-way left turn lane, two lanes of oncoming traffic, and somehow made it through the driveway (hopped the curb though), and the parking lot, but slammed into two bollards and the wall...
He almost was ejected but the airbag saved him, however it looks like he hip checked the windshield out.

I took off the oil cap, reached in with my finger, and was able to lift the chain off the cam gear. Timing system failure confirmed

I see nothing wrong with this, though I wouldn’t have used sheetrock screws; I’d have used something more elegant.

that Prius one reminds me of a story I read years ago. don’t know if it was something in a muscle car magazine, or maybe it was Tom & Ray, but it was about this “little old lady” who had some ‘60s car, you know, the “only drove it to the store and to church” thing. she brought it to the mechanic multiple times saying it didn’t run very well, but every time they would test drive it it was fine. Finally they asked to ride along with her so she could show them. She pulled out the choke knob, hung her purse from it, started up, and drove away.
“Well there’s your problem!

It gets better in the sense that some people in the discussion thread are pretty sure that that is the wheel from a Logitech racing controller (though that might still be the least shady thing about that install).

A for effort wearing out the inner ring on that bike. Nowhere near the worst I’ve seen though. Those usually are a big ring or the 11t cog on a cassette lovingly crafted by a true technician who’ll take the time to slowly spin them up and then whale on them for a few hours.

The outer ring appears to have had it’s teeth ground off?!
![]() 03/15/2020 at 14:37 |

Conversion to single front ring using a massive cassette in the back. Since the dummy ring/chain guard is pristine it appears to do a better job keeping their pants leg clean than fending off rocks and stumps.

My mind is still road bike oriented - didn’t occur to me to use it as a bash protector.

BTW, does one use “Brawny” as TP when they encounter a big asshole?

On a mtb you used to effectively do this with the outer ring of a triple crank. S o you could pedal through logs without having anything protruding that caught on rocks.

It takes a really special kind of stupid to do that to your steering wheel in any car. Let alone a modern car that is supposed to have an airbag! And then the real piece of Samsonite does it in a place that does safety inspections!

I’m not sure that’s how the game of chicken is supposed to work.
My lot tend to perch on the rear axle of the farm ute...( I took one to the shed the other day) or dust bathe under the slasher...

That oil control vavle went on my malibu @85k. quickest repair ever. What pissed me off though was I thought it was the cam sensor which has to be installed behind the engine, so you’re doing it all by feel.
