Just checking in. I hope everyone is doing well. Things have been “dynamic” in the airline world the last week or so. We are confident that we will be ok, but it will be an interesting few months.
Be sure to take good care of yourself, family, friends and your coworkers. Everyone is going to need a little extra patience.

Good here. My brother had a COVID-19 case in his office before Amazon shut everything down, but it wasn’t someone he worked with, and he seems to not be infected. Both he, and my parents are risking travel to the UK , though the event my parents went there for has been canceled. My brother has been thinking about staying with them here in Boston when he comes back instead of immediately returning to Seattle, which is getting increasingly locked down. In any event, hopefully they’ll all do ok.
I thought your CEO/communications people did a good job with their COVID-19 response letter to customers. Felt like it did a good job painting Delta as both prepared for this and caring about customer safety.

Doing fine, thanks. I am extremely confident that the airline industry will be just fine, and I would buy airline stock if I were controlling my own portfolio. We just bought out tickets for travel so SoCal for another visit to Disneyland in June. Hoping this all shakes out by then. I am cautiously optimistic. There are definitely some deals to be found these days if you are traveling.
Took this in Austin last year during wildflower season. It’s been almost a year since I’ve squeezed a shutter at AUS. I need to get back there.
Y’all stay healthy.

It’s not hit my BFE town yet since we’re miles from anything, but we’ve been warned we may have to stay home at any moment. Sure hope it doesn’t get us, because there’s some work I desperately want to finish. It has raised some tensions though.

My portfolio is depressing at the moment, but we raise sheep... the wool sales have been very good, and the meat sales are steady. We did just buy a new-to-us-baler though :/ I had counted on the portfolio growth exceeding the interest rate on the purchase ... that may not be so much true right now... we’ve got time though.

Good here for now, but I think the you know what is about to hit the fan. They’ve cancelled school Monday to figure out how they will homeschool if (probably when) schools are cancelled here. I have a feeling DC is a hot zone, just a few weeks behind Seattle and Italy.
I hope you guys are doing OK, Delta has really put its best foot forward the last few years, and I’ve really enjoyed my recent Delta flights.
On a brighter note, I got a blast from the past a couple of days ago in an email - I applaud the inside joke:

I threw out my back but bought a handle of rum and it’s spring break (I’m a teacher so I’m off) so things could be worse. I’m recovering “pirate style”, meaning when my back hurts I get drunk off of rum and diet Dr. Pepper (that sounds like medicine).
I’m hoping everything is fine by Saturday, I’m scheduled to instruct at the track (forecast for rain, but that just means epic drifto mode). I spent the previous week down with a cold/flu (almost positive not related to the end of days pandemic), so not a great couple of weeks, but could be worse.
When in doubt, just drink rum and coke (or whatever mixer floats your boat) until things get better. Thank god for spellcheck, otherwise drunk typing would never work. We truly live in the future.

Found out a coworker went camping last weekend with an RN who was working with suspected coronavirus patients. That RN is now under quarantine and awaiting test results. The coworker came in to work YESTERDAY AND TODAY and had to be sent home today for looking like death. So basically: she KNEW she was in contact with someone who was treating patients and then she herself didn’t feel well, and then CAME INTO WORK ANYWAY. My parents were going to visit tonight (they are not young) and I had to tell them to stay away.
Pardon my french, but what the fuck is wrong with people

Trying to be good, I guess. We live not far from all the viral problems. Our schools are closed for two weeks at minimum. Amazon, Google, REI, etc. are all work from home. I drive into downtown Seattle every day and it’s a ghost town. It’s creepy and a little unnerving. My office is small and we have contingency plans but my main concern is my 70+ year old parents and in laws. Concern for my kids is lower as they are less suseptable. It's odd watching my city shut down and my prediction is local government has been slowly pulling the band-aid off in preparation for a big clamp down. But traffic has been great!

Both my daughter and I survived Type A flu. She received some kind of wonder shot and was over it in a few days. I still have a lingering cough. My job changed and I’m no longer traveling, so there’s that. The downside is having to deal with some difficult personalities in my home office. It means more time with the kids and more time to do chores (in that order), so I’m happy.

Work has been nuts so I’d gladly take 2week break to do stuff around the house. I’m mostly worried and pissed off at my parents as they do a shitty job of monitoring their health. whats even more annoying they’re both retired so BS when they don’t do anything.

I bought a handle Monday, so that should last until Thursday or Friday (I’m not much of a drinker, so even though I’m a big guy it doesn’t take much for me to get drunk). I’m in a beer/wine only (previously dry) area/county but it’s only like 10mi to the closest liquor stores (they aren’t open on Sundays because of ‘blue laws’ bu that’s not going to be a problem for awhile).
I hadn’t planned on spending my break drunk, but all things considered, there are worse ways to waste a week. I really shouldn’t post drunk, but you aren’t my supervisor and I’m not as think as I drunk you are.
I haven’t decided
if tomorrow is another “lost” day or if I’ll try to do anything
of merit. Not having responsibilities
for a week is kind of nice. I’ve run out of food, but not rum.
There’s always delivery pizza, or I can sober up long enough to go get groceries or some Whataburger, or there are a couple of places within staggering distance I could stumble to without fully sobering up.
I don’t know if walking would help or hurt me at this point. With enough rum, you can make it quite a ways before you regret your decisions (I checked my mail, which is about a block away and the rum kept my back from hurting but it took much longer than it should have to get t here and back. I don’t really know if I’d want to risk crossing the street, even though it’s only about twice as far away .
Really, that’s all a problem for tomorrow me. Tonight me is going to enjoy the warm, spinning sensations devoid or debilitating back pain. I’ve got sub-par anime to watch (continuing the pirate theme, argh). BTW, pirates wore eye patches to facilitate quick transitions from bright to dark spaces while preserving dark/night vision, not because they were overly prone to lo sing an eye, well as long as t hey didn’t already have hook hands.
Ym, ym, rum inmy tum. Goodnight oppok (I’m not going to fix this with spellcheck, so if it is illegible you are going to have to just deal with it_. I can’t be botghered anymore to fix stuff, I shut my eyes after the last pargraph and the rest of this is just drunk babble. Behold my drunk typing pwers and despair. Beyone this point there be drunkards, abandon all hope.
And remember kids... rum goes well with Dr. Pepper, wait, that’s not it; whatever, rawr. Sleepy time.

My folks just hopped a flight on China Airlines for a diving trip to Palau. Not Air China, the mainland-based carrier, but the Taiwanese carrier. Apparently the plane was quite empty; mom took three seats and laid down for a nap.
Right now I bet all of those carriers with 737 Max s in their fleet are quite happy not to have them. I’d bet there’s quite a glut of capacity right now, and part of the reason I’m not currently in the airline biz.
I did go out and vote today and went to see the Apollo 11 film over at the Omnimax theater at the science center. I should be watching my money more closely, but I like catching anything that has to do with the Apollo missions, and if I can see it on that massive screen it’s hard for me to pass up. This is the same place where I saw the Apollo 11 command module a couple of years ago.
Just avoiding house cleaning right now, and sitting back watching some Neil Degrasse Tyson interviews on YouTube; I’m just in a space/science kind of mood right now. Life is so much better now that I finally hooked up the AppleTV in the office, although it took a $50 box to make it work properly in my setup. I have a lot more flexibility in the video setup in here now. That box must have a pretty good DAC in it because it sounds a hell of a lot better than it did going through a splitter and HDMI to component adapter. Next test? See if that splitter and the HDMI capture device will allow me to record things to the computer. I think I specced the right components to allow this to happen. I’ll probably do that testing tomorrow since it’s getting relatively late now.

Thanks. Her mom is smarter than I and she took our daughter to the doctor on the day she developed a fever. The doctor gave her an anti-viral shot. I know it wasn’t Tamiflu. Perhaps it was Xofluza?
I, on the other hand, waited almost a week before going to the doctor. While my daughter was back at school without a sniffle, I was still doing my best to hack up a lung.
Lesson learned.

We have both Border Leicesters and Blue-faced Leicesters. They're both solid dual purpose sheep, with the blues having a more valuable wool, and the borders being a little more rugged and quicker growing. We actually sell a fairly large number of blues as breeding stock, they're not a common breed in north america, and the demand for genetics among the breeders keeps this market up.
