Again, thanks everyone for the well wishes. I was a bit ambiguous on my final update: I didn’t stay in the ER all that long, about an hour and a half. I went home to sleep, which occupied me for several hours today, which probably means I’m going to have a hard time sleeping tonight, ugh.
Anyway, I’m about as ok as someone c an be half way through a week-long flu. The incredible fever that left me drenched with sweat, to the point where I blacked out from dehydration and woke up staring at the ceiling with a bump on my head and no idea how I got there, hasn’t returned to nearly that degree. I’m keeping hydrated and generally trying to hide from the world.
I haven’t looked at the statistics to find out how effective this year’s vaccine was, but I definitely don’t regret getting it. I don’t want to ever feel like this again, so I’ll keep getting vaccinated.
Now I just have to hope they come up with a vaccine for the new c oronavirus .

I didn’t realize you were so sick! I’m glad you’re home safe. The ER is no fun.

I can’t imagine 2 weeks of this. I was done with it after 3 days.

Having to go there sucked, but the experience was about as pleasant as it could have been. Great people, very gentle and friendly.

Oh good. You never know what you’re gonna get, depending on the location and day of week.

The last time I had the flu was January of 2013, I thought I was going to die.

Same.
I would’ve felt better if I had just
died
when I got the flu 20 years ago. I
imagine all the people who don’t get the flu vax have never had the flu.

Oh wow get better. I don’t have a history of getting the flu but a couple years ago we were working on the auto show, I was doing Mazda, I felt weird at the end of the day and by the time I got home I knew it was not going to be good so I called in. I never went back to take the show out, I was out for two weeks and I didn’t even get much better until after the first week.

Feel for you. Had it last year 2 weeks of sweats and chills. Only thing I could eat was soup and tortillas. Get better!
