Looking at the linked M2 as a replacement for my Cayman. Problem is it’s in Cincinnati and I’m in Milwaukee. Mainly looking for an independent opinion on if there are any glaring issues that the dealer hasn’t disclosed. If it checks out, I’d likely get a PPI, but don’t want to shell out money if there’s something glaringly wrong with it.

Considering someone put 20k miles on it for the past three years, it looks pretty clean. Only thing that sticks out to me is  the long wheel stud conversion and wonder if it had anything to do with a lot of track time on the car. So if anyone in the area would like to check it out for me, I’d be very thankful and can buy you beer if I end up buying it.

Looks like those are OEM from my quick Googling. That’d be great if it was convenient at some point for you to get over there . Figured since it’s a fun car it wouldn’t be too hard to talk someone into taking taking it for a ride.

I’m up for driving an M2 , but I’m not in Cincinnati, unfortunately. Good luck with the possible acquisition!

What’d you think of the ride compared to your GTI? I’ve seen mixed reviews ranging from too rough to daily to about what your you’d expect for a sp orts car.

I found it stiffer than the GTI, which is to be expected, I think. I have the adjustable suspension (DCC) so I can make it a bit plush, and the M2 Competition was more like the stiff setting. Not bad, in my opinion, I think I’d be able to daily it without complaint, although the roads I was on were in good condition, so that may be wrong . It likely would get tiresome on a long commute .

Hey, Saturday isn’t gonna work for me as the weather is gonna be shit. Maybe next weekend possibly if you are still interested and the car’s still there

No problem. I might start getting things moving on it next week when I get back from a vacation. Still debating if a car that new needs a PPI or not.

The used M2 that I was going to look at when I ended up driving a new one dropped in price by a few hundred dollars, and AutoTrader sent me an alert. Which led me to wonder what happened to your possible purchase? I assume that you got back from vacation, the world went into lock-down, and you said forget it, is that right?

Pretty much, definitely put things on hold for the time being. I also came away not that impressed with the M2. It just didn’t feel exciting, the acceleration is crazy but effortless and un dramatic. It seems like I can get 90% of the M2 at less than 50% of the cost by getting a 135 and putting some  modifications on it.

Yeah, the more I think about it, I think it is just too cap able of speed without feedback, so not really fun unless going 100 mph.
