A recent viewing the first stage of Initial D primed interest for this Yamaha produced series centered around their MT bike series. Learning that they finally rid the US market of FZ branding was the final push. It has been some time since a Yamaha bike drew a look from me. The new MT-03 and MT-10 have managed to do just that.

er, they changed from FZ- to MT- last year. And hell, they didn’t even change paint colors for 2020.

I much prefer my FZ name than the MT-09. Thank you very much. :-)

I’d much prefer if we got the MT-15 in the states. This “The Dark Side of Japan” campaign is atrocious. Every bit of the 20 horsepower in a MT-15 is more “You meet the nicest people on a Honda” than any other bike including Honda has made for a good many years. And because they are so popular in Asia they make all the fancy Öhlins kits, Akrapovi exhaust, and master cylinders for them only at something ridiculous like 1/8 the cost.
Of course US regulations would utterly destroy everything good about it. Hence “The Dark Side of Japan.”

I’m trying to inspire greater things here. Better than anarcho-kabuki theater at least.

Idk about 19hp though.....
Never heard of the Dark Side campaign either. Though I wouldn’t mind some cheap Ohlins for the FZ thats for sure.

Probably the best we can get for our roads and infrastructure. If there is terrain interesting to be outside riding across. The pan flat square zoning of most the midwest makes a bigger bike attractive since you do nothing but sit staring straight ahead never twitching the wheel a mm.

All the Japanese bug faced bikes are. Sadly BMW is exploring this look.

99% of sportbikes made after the mainstream introduction of fuel injection (early 2000s) are absolutely atrocious to me.
Which is a shame, because it means everything I like is a finnicky unreliable pile of shit.

The drop in material quality and engineering to account is really easy to spot if you were used to quality older bikes. Little doubt why they’ve become a lifestyle accessory for the image conscious. These days Asia keeps their quality goods for their own market. America especially gets total crap and regulates it even further down the pile so you just keep buying one way or the other.
