UPDATE: The pickup will be built in Mexico and supposedly resembles the previous generations of the Ranger. At this point, why not just call this the Ranger. I have a feeling this will be named the Ranger Sport.
Ford has officially showed dealers its new UNIBODY pickup truck which is slated for a 2021 release. The truck will slot under the Ranger and have a starting price of under 20k. The only other unibody pickup on the market is the Honda Ridgeline, and the Hyundai Santa Cruz which is also slated for a 2021 release. For those who have kept on talking about how tiny trucks are best, this is your chance to get one!
Also, RIP to the Clarity EV, though the PHEV and fuel cell models will remain.

I wonder what engine options it’ll have. I doubt it’ll have a 2.0T that’s too close to the Rangers 2.3T

The idea of a small unibody pickup, even a Ford, is not new. Basically, they’ve made a four door bakkie.
Honestly, I bet they’re either going to call it the Ranger Sport (a la the Bronco Sport) or the Courier. I’m down for it, though depending on what they look like as production cars I’m leaning a bit more towards the Santa Cruz, but we have a better idea as to what that car/truck/ bakkie/ute /thing might look like.

I have a feeling this will be named the Ranger Sport.
I hope not . Too many people are already getting confused enough over the two “ Bronco”s.. . If Ford’s going to bring back a true compact truck deserving of the Ranger name , then the midsize truck is just gonna have to be called something else . Something like... well, F-140 seems fitting .

Probably same as the Fusion(?)...what we know as the Mondeo? Mainly because there’s no way this is going to use a unique platform...

I've done some more researching and it turns out the most likely name will be the Courier.

There will be a 1.5T from the Euro Spec Focus and maybe a 2.0T. An 8 speed automatic will also be available.

I forgot the Courier was even a thing. This truck is supposed to be like a Courier revival and at the same time fill in the gap left behind by the Fiesta and Focus as Ford's entry level offering.

Yes, as a replacement to the Fiesta and Focus.

Ford already do a Courier so would n’t be able to call it a Courier here , the Ford Transit Courier. Even though it is by Ford, it would confuse the line-up.
It falls between the Fiesta van
and the Transit Connect

Isn’t it being built on the Focus platform.

It also has the longest bed and much lower to the ground than the crew-cabs.

I mean it’s nitpicking but that’s not really “A Courier”
it’s a Transit Courier.
Maybe this new vehicle will be a Ranger Courier in the European market?

I believe I read something last year about Ford renewing the trademark for Courier. I imagine that’s what it’ll be called.
I’m definitely looking forward to this. If it can get decent gas mileage, this could be my next vehicle.
