The yellow scooter accents match the yellow S croth branding on my harness.
Realistically I could park these side by side, and put a Monster where the scooter currently is. Still take up less room than the F-150 that sticks out a foot two spots down . J ust saying
Air filter, spark plug, and I’m thinking a tiny lithium ion battery, at least once freezing temps are no longer a possibility in a few weeks. Oh, and fresh rubber, assuming it’s as cheap as I’m assuming it will be..? I may do breaks too. That’s the one simple vehicle maintenance item that I’ve still never done on anything. Yeah, the Miata has somehow gone 5 years on one set of pads, despite countless miles and lots of abuse. I don’t really get it, but there’s plenty of pad left!
Any other ideas to get the ball rolling on many more trouble-free miles?
Oh, I forgot to mention she leaks gas. It’s not a huuuuuge deal, but... Still. Environment and whatnot. I gotta figure that one out before someone complains. Besides that... The gas gauge is a bit funky. It works intermittently. Odometer works though, so I’m not too worried. Cold starts are still an issue. I rode to work today, 27°F. She did not want to start. Took a solid 10-15 minutes of screwing around. I know fuck-all (that means nothing right ) about carbs, but... I should probably learn.

Cold starts: If it has trouble cold starting with full choke, you probably need to clean/tune the carb. The lazy way to clean a carb is to just run carb cleaner in your fuel. I suppose your choke could also be inoperable as well.
Fuel leak: Where is it coming from? If you’re lucky it’ll just be a line leak.
Tires: Moto tires are more expensive than car tires, but the Stella’s tiny wheels should lend to cheaper rubber choices.

Tires aren’t too bad. I just looked them up and the Stella’s are anything from $20 to $80 each. I agree on the fuel line. Those hoses are not made to last. The one I pulled of f of the Cub practically disintegrated.

Note to self, don't look up "full choke" on a work computer. Is that the little knob under the fuel cock..? I'm looking at the service manual and not finding much on that.
That’s what I’m hoping for the fuel issue. I put some cardboard down and have deduced based on the spots that the leak is coming from... The underside. Lol. Do you have any good ideas on how to get the scooter up in the air to work on? Cheaply?

The knob under the fuel petcock is probably a reserve/on/off switch.

There’s the lever, which is a fuel valve
The thing that looks like a knob, pull that all the way out to engage the choke

Noooooo under that switch. There's a knob that looks like it can be pulled our slightly? I have no idea what it is or what it's used for. But some reading suggests that a closed choke might help with my cold starts, so maybe that's what I'm looking at?

Today I learned a thing. I swear if it starts up first try tomorrow morning with the choke engaged...

If it pulls out its probably the choke. Usually out mean closed.

You aren’t going to want those $20 things if you want to keep the shiny side up and/or don’t want to become best friends with a tire shop. IIRC I think I paid $65 total for the Gambler Chuckus’ tires and those I got at a discount from an eBay seller.
ETA: And fuel lines can last a very long time, but at one point they will need to be replaced. Almost sounds like the ones on your Cub were the originals!

I just use the center stand then poke my head anywhere it needs to go. lol
The choke will definitely help immensely with cold starts. I forget where it is on my Stella, but it should be a little black knob that you pull.

Sometimes I think about the time I talked my way into a position in charge of a large fleet of heavy duty vehicles, and dozens of small-motored implements and laaaaaaaaugh... Thank God I have oppo to help

Maybe I'll try the F&F special, hold the bike up by a pulley with one hand, do the work with the other!
I feel like I haven’t heard anything about your Smartcars for a while. They still in the fleet?

The fact that you got it started at all in the cold without the choke , is friggin impressive!

For work I will occasionally need to read about breast implants. It might make it even more odd but I will try to do that in one of the break out rooms.

o you have a service manual for your scoot yet? What model is it again? Might be able to find a digital copy for you!
Loving the fact you’re loving your Vespa, haha!
