AND ONCE I’M DONE BEING ON HOLD I’M GOING TO talk to the person on the other end like a reasonable person and explain my issue, which resulted in him very quickly sorting out the issue and saying there was a cheque with the owed money on the way. I thanked him for his time and for resolving my issue, and he wished me well.

Wait a second, that’s not how this is supposed to go, I thought animosity gets you what you want?

This is something that I might be dealing with in about a week. I submitted a loan payoff to my bank, and they are dragging their feet about processing it. My next scheduled payment is on the 15th, and I won't be surprised if they take that payment despite the loan being paid in full.

I am making sure to keep enough money in the account to cover that accidental extra payment. We'll see what happens.

I’ve always noticed how easy it is for a financial institution to take your money and how quickly they will confirm the transaction but when you ask for a mistake to be reversed or similar money being owed then it’s “ oh it’ll take 5 business days for the transfer to hit  your account” or we will send a check in the mail instead of putting it back where we got it from in the same way we got it.

That’s why I make all payments through my bank’s b ill p ayment service whenever possible instead of letting creditors withdraw directly from my account. Companies will scramble over their own balls to take one's money but will stop space-time itself before they'll pay back.

In January, my mortgage was debited twice from my chequeing account. I informed the bank the same day on a phone and 2 days later by registered mail. It took 26 days to get a cheque in the mail. I immediately deposited it via a bank branch (too much for mobile deposit). And guess what, my bank deposit $100 immediately and the rest took 7 days (5 business days). So now I have to pay ANOTHER mortgage payment before their money clears my account. I’d have been better off if I just left that alone, but my mortgage company wouldn’t have counted the over payment as my February payment. Ugh!

I know someone is earning money with my money, and it ain't me.

Thats really crazy, unless you have a brand new account, a domestic check should always be fully available on the next business day . And if you have your mortgage from the same institution, I would really question why they even had to cut a physical check instead of an internal transfer, which would be same day availability.

That’s better than I’ve ever had from a bank. It took nearly two years to settle my mom’s accounts after she passed. The bank wouldn’t accept the documentation from her trust, despite her lawyer getting involved. They finally backed down from their position when I threatened to report them to the state Bar for practicing law without a license.

The bank holding her auto loan was a similar story. After nearly two years of back and forth, they said all I really needed to do was fill out one form and have it notarized. Two days later and that account was settled. What’s really funny is that they didn’t receive a single payment in that entire time and they couldn’t charge interest on the loan because it was for a deceased person.

Then there was the bank holding our mortgage. We like to pay bi-weekly to save some interest on the loan. They have an overly-complicated process for “over-payments” in which you have to call them and give them verbal direction on how to apply the payment. Then when your regular payment arrives, but isn’t the “full” amount, they charged late fees. We went through this BS for six months before finally giving in and just making payments monthly.

Bastards.

Wells Fargo once said I paid off my auto loan and sent me all the paperwork. Then later said I hadn’t paid it all off, turns out they used someone else’s money to pay my loan. I ended up fighting with them and settling for paying half of what I would have owed for the remainder. My issue was that I kept getting calls from different people at Wells Fargo and none of them talked to anyone else! I was being harassed and they didn’t even know who else was calling me within their own company. I demanded someone higher up the chain of command handle it themself, I just kept saying fuck off until they did it. Finally I got a woman with a secretary to be reasonable, when you call and they have a dedicated secretary I figured they must be a bit higher up. She was cool and took care of it, but not after a horrible couple weeks.

That time Wells Fargo put a 21 day hold on my Receivables check deposit?

Every single interaction with them they told me how much of a favor they were doing for me by holding my money hostage on their balance sheet.

Yeah like they were going to share the investment income they made on the value of your money.

If the government enacted a law that said a bank had to share 75% of the investment income  they made on money that was designated to go back to customers but was being held for “verification” or whatever, I can only guess at how fast they would throw your money back at you.

Bank account is 6 months old. Different bank than mortgage company. I was informed that the check would be the fastest with no fees. I just can't imagine how it could be.

Well, you'd have to pay a fee with an incoming wire, most likely, but an ACH transfer shouldn't have any fee and would be just as fast. Still, for a 6 month old account, I would have expected next day availability.

Just sounded like WF level of fuckery. I had paid off my mortgage back in 2006, kept the letter from WF saying they would file lien release, etc. Come to find out, I discovered 13 years later they never did. Contacted them, sent them all the info, they said they would have to research it and would get back to me in 30-45 days. Luckily I know someone who is a senior vp there, called her, she emailed someone and they filed the lien release with the county 2 days later. And I (at that point) still had my accounts with WF, so I can’t imagine how they would have treated a non-customer.
