I found this at a job I was at, in the boiler / maintenance room. The urge to liberate was strong (there were 3-4 of them laying about) , but it being at a type of nursing home for nuns I decided against it. I took photos so it’d last longer, yah know. Enjoy.

heh. I remember these commercials in the ‘80s when I was a kid, decades after we stopped using exchange names in phone numbers:

Kinja'd!!!

“Just call TYler-8-7100. WE DO GOOD WORK!”

My grandfather worked most of his career for Amoco/Standard Oil of Indiana, but given that Ike was in office, I think this might even be before his time.

Back when advertisements and information could go together. Reminds me of those Shell answer booklets yo u could get at the filling station back when I was a kid in the 7 0s- 80s. I read all of them.

When I was a senior in high school, we went to a field trip at an oil refinery.  The chemical engineer told us that all gas has to adhere to standards and is therefore essential equal in quality.  The only differences would be in what additives they mix in.

I remember my parents, specifically my dad, giving our number as  VAndyke-2 when I was a kid, before 10 digit dialing became mandatory in the late 80s/early 90s.

Well, you did have prank phone calls and telemarketers. Of course, fax machines were still a few years away, and that’s when the spam really started getting annoying.

I love old books that tried to be a compendium of useful knowledge. I have a few lying around somewhere from the turn of the last century , need to dig them up.

Some title pages:

Probably published before they discovered Hawaii.

I meant   accepted as a state.

“The Book of Frolics (for all occasions)“

How should I frolic at a funeral? In a train? On the roof?
