Remember that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! that I bought last year ? I put a test roll through it in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Today I finally scanned my favourites out of the roll, so here they are.
All taken with a Mamiya RB67, the standard 90mm f/3.8 lens, on Fujifilm Provia 100F. On the underexposed side, but not bad for my first time shooting medium format, with a 40+ year old beater camera, using a free light meter app.
Oh and scanned with an Epson V800, one of the branches of the Vancouver Public Library has one that’s free to use. These are only 1200dpi scans though , nothing crazy.

Wow. That camera was very acclaimed “back in the day”.... Certainly doesn’t appear to have lost any sharpness.
Where are you getting the emulsion processed these days?
I often wonder, will anyone (‘Blad?) ever do a full frame digital back for some of the RB645s and RB67s with the great optics? Too niche of a market, I suppose, but I’ve always thought somebody would make a serious play for a Full-Frame back for say a Nikon or Contax at some point.

Oh yeah, I should add I wasn’t meaning to slight it by calling it a beater, just that my example is a rough one. The glass is perfect though, and the back is tight, and that’s all that really matters.
There is one lab left in Vancouver that does medium format and slide film, and I’m too cheap to pay for their scans. They’re just called “The Lab”. So I’m not using his anywhere near as much as I use my 35mm Minoltas, since London Drugs will relatively cheaply process and scan 35mm C41.
I believe Phase One is intended for Mamiya glass, but they are very expensive. I think you can get digital backs for RZ57s from MamiyaLeaf, but they’re also very expensive. My dad was looking at one of those for his RZ after Astia was discontinued, before he bought a Nikon D850.

My brother bought a Bronica ETRSi 6x4.5 system when they started getting cheap... I thi nk he’s got four les ses now (5 0/2.8 , 8 0/2 .8 , 15 0/3 .5(?) , 2 5 0 /5.6 - I think) He loves that thing. It’s a monster, and just that setup requires a full size backpack case to carr y ar ound, and it’s nowhere near as big as the RB!
B ut I can’t argue with the results. He shoots mostly Portra 16 0 and TMAX 400 and scans it with an Epson Perfection v5 00... The images are compelling.
I keep telling him he needs to be shooting Fuji Neopan for B&W, but he keeps not listening for some incomprehensible reason..
see attached: (small sizes because Kinja, and only 768k up)
That’ s super sweet that your library has a V800, that’ s a swanky scanner.

Yeah the RB definitely isn’t small or light. Those look awesome, I’m excited to shoot some negative film with this thing

Do it! Minolta glass is almost second to none. I love my XE-7, I’v e considered keeping an SRT of some sort around as a fully mechanical backup, since the XE-7 requires a battery.

So, I actually got the SRT from my pops. He bought it back in the 1970's because he wanted to get into photography. He used it for awhile, then stashed it away in the closet until I took my first photog class in college back around 2001 or 2002.
To our total amazement, the one battery in the body (for the internal light meter) still actually worked. It only lasted about a month for me. But the fact that it held any voltage after being tucked away for almost 25 years was astounding.
