Headed to the airport with luggage, which car do I take?

I’m headed on a ski trip so naturally you might think the car with the ski rack and plenty of space for all of my luggage would make the most sense right?

Not toooo much stuff though. And the car is being left at the airport for a few days. So the logical choice is the car that I care the least about its paint.

I bet I could even get the roof up if I really tried. And the roll bar works pretty well to secure things in place. The problem with the hard case is that it’s actually harder to fit in the Subaru anyways. I have to remove the back seat to access the pass through and it doesn’t mount all that well to the roof either. I’ve been thinking about fabricating a custom roof mount or just buying the one sport tube makes. But I like this solution better, ski miata!

wait, what? I guess I haven’t been in an STi specifically, but can’t you split-fold the back seat?

Split fold was introduced in the ‘07, I’m not sure if it was only the limited though that got that. Became standard in ‘ 08 and follow for everything impreza.

So yeah there's a hole between the interior and trunk but I have to remove the entire back seat, remove a rubber insert, and then there's still support bars in the way anyways. I can put the bottom seat cushion back in after but yeah its a project. I probably would have never bothered with a roof rack if I had a pass through. I had debated an interior swap since 07 is a direct bolt in. But I had trouble finding it in blue and just went the roof rack route for convenience. Plus I've obviously made use of it for other things like a surf board and bicycle that wouldn't have fit, pass through or not.

Always lot e. I ain’t got the kinda money for those other places. $20+ per day is insane. I do avoid all of the other cheaper lots though because I’m not about to park in a place with a sub 2 star average on Google with over 1000 reviews...

Although I sometimes do wally Park if they have a sale going on because I can get a work discount there even on personal travel. With discount it's indoor parking close to the airport with a really reliable shuttle for only $1 more per day ($13 vs $12)

A l uggage rack that clamps on the trunk lid is an awesome option too. I use mine all the time for big-ish items.

I do Parking Spot Sepulveda sometimes (rarely these days) because I can do In-n-Out and watch airplanes glide overhead.

I’m not sure we’ll ever get Lot C back, with the People Mover and RAC finally revving up. I used to use Lot C a lot but the shuttle got SO (they’d seem to all go on break for an hour) unreliable in the evenings I gave up on them.  Reviews (and management) at Lot E seems better-- hopefully my bitching to the LAWA hotline helped on the shuttles.

About 18 months ago I went back to using SBA mostly, figuring my time is worth something; with the once-in-awhile Flyaway out of Van Nuys, which remains the best deal in the city at $4 a day. In the wee early morning hours I can get from my house in Montecito to the Flyaway parking ramp in 72 minutes if I push it, so can time the shuttle. Of course the bus only takes 20 minutes over the hill to LAX at that early hour too. Multiply both numbers by 4 in the  afternoon.

I’ve got one of those, it’s currently bolted to the other miata. I only end up using that if I need to transport a passenger at the same time or if it’s a more extensive camping trip with that car. Tends to mess up the paint though a bit and it wouldn't fit my current lid with the oem spoiler.
