If the Bronco looks and performs as good as I hope, and ends up being fairly reliable, I might just have to swap my Tacoma out for one eventually...

How cool would it be if it had a dog-leg first for that crawler low gear?

And awesome that this will be available for other high-torque applications. I need something like the SS sedan to come back on the market.

Gotta have that torque density

What is torque density

EDIT: It is exactly what I thought it was...why would you advertise that on a finished component?

I doubt we’ll end up seeing anything but the 10R80 in the bronco.

Why not? It just means it can handle a lot of input torque without being huge.

But you can tell me the dimensions instead

Automakers will still claim it costs too much to develop and not offer it.

This gives me a 3-pedal boner. Bronco isn’t my thing but I will eventually need a sedan/wagon  with a manual trans, and you know I want it to be RWD like the gods intended

This needs to go in the Mustang so they can unscrew up the gearing they gave the 2018+ cars.

I still dream one day of finding an unmolested (also un-beaten-to-death) 2002-ish F-350, with the V10 and the 6-speed manual. I used to drive one for work all the time that was unmolested in that it wasn’t lifted on 40" mud tires, but it was certainly “beaten to death. ” It worked hard as a plow truck in winter, towing boats all summer, all of its life. But man, it was fun to drive and on a flat, I am sure you could get into 6th without touching the gas, just letting the clutch out gently in each gear. I moved it small distances (hooking up to trailers) all the time in 1st (low) and reverse without any throttle application.

And the gear arrangement was brilliant, at least, I thought so.

R - 2 - 4- 6

1 - 3 - 5

So plowing was a breeze because reverse and first were perfectly opposite; it was WAY faster than using an automatic in small areas. And all the rest of the time, you’d just start in 2nd anyway, so it was like a regular 5-speed.

I’m sure, because that combo was probably only offered on stripper work truck models like ours (it didn’t even have a tape deck or CD - AM/FM only and manual windows) that all the examples were used up and thrown away. But somewhere, some old guy  bought one, and it’s only been driven to the hardware store on Sundays, and it’ll appear on Bring a Trailer or some such thing... one of these days.

Ours was even a cranberry red, not boring white or black.

Don’t come in here with your facts!

Hard to believe Getrag would pay to develop it if they didn’t have sales lined up.

Once in a while I search autotrader or something for these specs, and sometimes there are a few out there. I just don’t need a(nother?) single-cab one-ton truck right now. My wife also said I could buy my friend’s Boxster he’s selling for $5k but only if I sold my truck, lol. So... there’s that

I mean, you can never sell your truck, can you?

Hmmmmm define “never.”

Or yeah. I decide one day to buy a Real Truck that I can drive everywhere and make an actual fun car my fun car. By then the $5k boxster will be $50k because Porsche and I’ll only be able to afford an E90 M3... oh shucks I guess I’ll live haha
