I didn’t want to spend the money, but once again the car wouldn’t start. It’s been over a week since I had driven anywhere, and again the battery was insufficiently charged. I needed to get some documents dropped off two miles away, but roadside assistance wasn’t going to arrive for an hour. Someone gave me a jump, but I need a better option.  This was at Costco for $60 and besides jump starting the car serves as a power bank and Qi charger. I didn't expect the last feature but am happy it's there. I guess I can move my existing Qi pad upstairs and just keep this thing at my desk.

I think I missed the original post on this...is this an alternator or a battery issue?

I believe that the alternator is fine. The battery is a year or two old. Right now I’m not driving much, and today was the first time in a week that I’ve actually stepped out to go somewhere. I don’t know if the battery is failing or if just having the car sit for over a week is killing it. What I do know is that I can’t have a starting issue delay me right now. I’m looking for work, and if I get an interview I don’t want to call in with an excuse before I even get the job.

Perhaps I should pop the battery out and give it a full charge whilst the car is not being used. I’ve been meaning to put on some anti-corrosion spray and some terminal thingies, and this might just give me the push I need to do that. I was feeling a bit down and unmotivated this week, but things are picking up and I’m feeling a bit more energized.

A week should not be long enough to kill the battery in any car. Either:

* Your battery is old and needs replaced
* You are driving the car for such a short amount that it never charges (unlikely but possible)
* The car has a parasitic drain that needs to be remedied

Not bad for the S model.....Porsche charges $4000 or more for that option.

(I have a charger in my Touareg....they are awesome for emergency starts, or a day at the beach charging phones, speakers, etc)

Glad you’re feeling more motivated! Good luck! :)

Could very well be the battery, despite it being new...if they set without being on a trickle charger, it can mess with them a bit...?
