I’m so terrified of my six-year-old when she’s 12.

We set up a “child” account for our daughter so she could have her own card and we could transfer funds to it as needed. It’s an easy way to provide her with an allowance and cover her fuel costs.
Of course, t his led to an argument between her and my wife about getting reimbursed for money she spent buying things her mom requested. After they both cooled down, I suggested that she treat it like an expense report - pu t the receipts for any purchases that were tied to parental requests into an envelope and either her mom or I would transfer the funds to cover those costs.
It’s working well so far. My daughter is diligent about tracking all of the funds coming through her account, whether they are her allowance or reimbursement for her non-personal expenditures.

Kids are simultaneously a lot smarter than we think they are, yet a lot dumber than they think they are.

You don’t have to worry about the oldest one (says the oldest one). They just want to make everyone happy.
Thankfully I only have the one. Who’s doing her best to kill me every day.

Related: A girl in my sister’s class stole her iPod touch (that should date the story) and posted pictures of herself using it onto her public facebook page. She also did the deed in front of a security camera for extra hilarity.
She lied and the administration wanted to believe it, but she eventually came clean with this evidence in her face.

My only one is way too smart and has been doing her best to kill me every day for six years.
When she was four, I had to turn away while washing dishes, because she was having a meltdown, and, when being confronted about hitting and how that doesn’t feel good to the hittee, said, “NO, I don’t understand. I AM A CHILD.”
The past week, she’s been telling us that we are supposed to be the parents, not her.
(we’re fucked)

That’s bad. I n Texas, that’s considered credit card fraud. It’s treated as a felony and the punishments are pretty severe:
“If convicted of a felony, the offender faces a prison sentence of six (6) months to two (2) years in a Texas State prison and fines of up to $10,000.00.”
There is no minimum amount to be convicted of fraud. “Under Texas law, it is not necessary for the accused to actually use a stolen debit or credit card in order to face fraud charges. Possession and intent to use the debit or credit card is enough for an individual to be charged with the crime.” (from the same site linked above).
I always like it as a parent
when the law is on my side. I
wouldn’t hesitate to talk to my kids about that being a crime which could lead to severe consequences. I would also point out that being convicted means they would be considered a thief and as a convicted felon, they would lose voting rights for life.

My kid said she was broke. The other day I needed quarters to wash my car. I gave her a 5'er and she probably had $20 in quarters.
I was like you don’t look very broke to me.

Everyone knows quarters aren’t real money. I mean better than nickles, but no one wants to carry change.

Make sure you let her know you are disappointed by how bad her lie was.
Two fingers for stealing the credit card, and one more finger for such a bad bold face lie.

Normal people are strange, quarters are great both money and a weapon when in large quantities.

In large quantities yes. I remember when me and my siblings used to save up quarters in a jar and when we filled it we got our parents to change it for cash and we would split the money. We always got good sums of money out of it.

i learnt that i cant be leaving my pinpass lying around
i also learnt that little miss i cant remember who called 5 minutes ago or what the message i was supposed to pass on was...or for that matter what you asked me to do just now.... aparently can remember pincodes she used once several weeks ago.....
tho... come to think of it... she also always remembered phone pins after seeing them used once or twice.... so i guess that ones on me.... i misunderestimated her
i think she learnt i can see where and when my pinpass was used
