It’s almost like the first Volt. I don’ t love the back but the rest would have been pretty good at the time.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

Wow I they were really determined to not make a hatchback weren’t they.
“It must be a sedan, that is the American way!”
“ But sir it has a long sloping roof, and a liftback would make a lot of sense.”
“DID I STUTTER! It. will. be. a. SEDAN.”

It’s like an early 2000s Dodge Stratus, Saturn Aura, and Honda Civic had a baby and we’re waiting on the paternity test.
If only EssExTee could be so grossly incandescent

In retrospect, imagine if the ESX3 had followed the original ESX from 1996 in inspiring the future of the Intrepid nameplate.
Dodge could have taken the Intrepid slightly downscale, from a full-size to a midsize, and given us a midsize Intrepid that looked a lot like this, maybe with some Charger styling cues at some point, instead of giving us the mediocre Avenger.
Essentially, it could have went like this come 2005:
Stratus sedan -> 3rd generation Intrepid
Stratus coupe -> true revival of the Avenger, based on the new Intrepid, and a more viable Accord coupe competitor
2nd generation Intrepid -> Charger, basically this part wouldn’t change
The Avenger likely w ould have eventually been discontinued, as the name plate has , like the Accord coupe, but a Dodge coupe might have lasted longer than the Stratus coupe did.
Probably would have allowed Mitsubishi to develop a proper Eclipse that would be more closely related to the Lancer Evolution, which might STILL be Caliber related, but the Caliber might have been a bit different, and better than what we got, including an SRT4 that utilized the Lancer Evo X’s powertrain and AWD (still to this day not sure why the R/T got AWD, but the SRT4 was FWD only...).
