Samsung Odyssey+ VR headset. iRacing is massively improved by having such a wide field of view and being able to glance at the car next to you.

Dirt Rally 2 is the closest I have come to barfing in VR and I’ve worn a VR headset on a roller coaster. For some reason the VR implementation has your head moving with the horizon instead of the car which instantly gives me motion sickness. Have the head move with the car and it would be so much better.

You going to that from another headset? I have an Acer WMR headset and have sometimes been tempted by deals on the Odyssey+ as an upgrade, though I suspect my money is better spent holding out for a next (or next+) gen headset, ideally with wireless.

I’ve got a friend that is a big sim racer with Assetto Corsa and he just picked up a VR headset and loves it other than the looking down and not seeing your hands which is freaky.

Nope, first headset. I did play with a Oculus CV1 years ago but never owned one myself.

The in sim hands line up closely enough with my rig to not throw me off. I do find it a tiny bit disorienting when I stretch my hands and the in game hands don’t move though.

No steering wheel yet?

Shifting without a clutch or hand movement is what breaks the immersion for me.

I have a G27 strapped to the desk just out of shot. It’s an L shaped desk with the monitor on the other segment.

I’m mostly running GTs and prototypes so iRacing’s lack of shifting animations isn’t noticeable for me.

I tried a Vive for a bit but it gave me headaches.

By brain was a bit confused at first but within 2 laps I was fine. Then I tried the Charlotte Roval and my brain was exceptionally confused by the banking. After about 2 hours I can now have massive shunts in iRacing with no issue.

I totally get that some people’s bodies can’t handle it though. Headaches tend to be that the headset isn’t adjusted properly for your eyes and can be fixed with a bit of fidling, it’s the nausea that can be a complete game stopper.

I used to fly around in helicopters and I am fine in boats etc.. but 30 min of space games flying around and I would get what felt like a migraine. I'm guessing eye strain.

Next step is to buy a bunch of extruded aluminum and build myself a solid chassis this summer to go between the desk and the heater. Then comes replacing the G27, it’s starting to show that I have been using the hell out of it for 12+ years now.

Good luck.  I hope you post photos of the finished product.
