A bit late for the late model GM theme last night / this morning, but today I got to drive the Grandma Mobile!
She passed away over the weekend at the age of 93, and today I drove her car up to the funeral home with my folks for the viewing.
Grandma hated driving, my mom taught her how to drive when she was in her 40s. The Park Ave is a 1997 with only 33 k miles. My folks are using it while their Acura is in the shop and then its going up for sale along with the rest of her estate.
I tell you what, though, its like taking your couch for a ride. It just floats down the road.

And it has one of the best engines GM ever made, which was oddly replaced with one of the more mediocre engines they've made.

Wait did she have a Park Ave or was it this century? Or did she have both?

“Road Sofa” should be a modern suspension setting.

Sorry to hear about your loss. There really is something fun about driving those old Buick’s. My best friend drove a 2001 Regal in high school and my God the poor things that car was subjected to. J turns were probably my favorite..So much body roll!

My grandma had that exact car, same color. She scratched the side up and had no idea how it happened... my aunt got the car, no idea if they still have it. She had a massive ford station wagon with wood graphics when I was little and then got a Caddilac Cimarron before the Buick. Can't make that up.

Apparently that plate was issued in the 90’s. There’s something neat about seeing late 90’s to mid-2000’s cars with “On My Mind” and “www.Georgia.gov” plates and faded dealer plate frames; true one owner cars.

Thank you. And you’re right, this thing just wallows around turns. But on the highway its like riding a cloud.

This is a C entury. Prior to this she had an early 80s Olds, possibly a Cutlass. It was a gold color and ugly as could be.

Nice! My grandma had an early 80s Olds Cutlass before this car. It was a gold color, ugly as sin.

....Okay I hate to drag this on but you said “The Park Ave is a 1997 with only 33k miles” and I am seeing a Century so my brain is not computing whats going on here.

Possibly. A lot of lower model Centurys got the 3100, which you couldn’t pay me to take.

They love their mobile couches. I was in China a few years ago and I couldn't believe how many Centurys were there. I read they have sold more in China than they did in the US.
