Kinja'd!!!3 Kinja'd!!! 57

‘Twas f at Tuesday. When in Rome.

Kinja'd!!!

Overall: not as bad as you would think. It’s basically two Krispey Kreme style doughnuts, a cut of breaded chicken breast, extra glaze as sauce, and one pickle slice.

I watched them drop the doughnuts in the fryer, so at least you know they’re not stale and dry. They glaze them up afterward, slap the chicken on it, drop a pickle, and then add additional icing glaze as their “condiment”. All topped off with the second dough nut.

If you like sweet and salty combo, it’s good. My biggest gripe was the extra glaze they pour on. There was so much of it. Overwhelmed the flavor and made it super messy. A nice pool of warm icing sat stagnant at the bottom of the container. Chicken cut tasted like KFC, lacked a bit of seasoning. Apparently, icing can overpower 11 herbs and spices.

Excuse me while I fast the next two days to clear this out of me.

7/10

PS-is it donut or doughnut?

Depends. What side of the Mississippi are you on? Fresh KK donuts/doughnuts are awesome, but they’d be even better with less of the sugary spooge drizzle imho .

I’d kill for a 25 BMI. I have never seen less than 30 in the last decade (currently at a 34?!?!).

Quick internet search yields an estimated calorie value of 860. Which...isn’t bad for novelty junk food. A standard Jimmy John’s sandwich can average that much.

Once, at a county fair in North Carolina, I tried a cheeseburger that was served on two fresh Krispy Kremes. The best way to describe it was "disgustingly good." Once was enough.

I feel the same about the icing quotient at many of our doughnut shops here. Too much sugar blows my mouth out.

Cake donuts are the ones that don’t have the airy doughy insides.

Kinja'd!!!

Depends on where you go, but a plain cake donut can average about 150 calories and about 16g of sugar.

Kinja'd!!! i86hotdogs > Chuckles

I think that would taste better than this. The burger and cheese carry a ton of flavor, and can compete with the sugary impact of the donuts. This was missing an element to counter the flood of icing.

I love Chinese buffets.  A guilty pleasure of mine is the pizza they usually have. I mean, it in no way resembles actual pizza., but to me it’s kind of like a McDonald’s cheeseburger.  There are times when you want a burger, and times you want that.  They don’t taste remotely the same at all.

The first time I was in undergrad (it took me a few tries, okay?) I was living on campus and invented a thing called the “Waffle Steak!”

The dining hall had “late night dining” where they just served snacks and junkfood. I’d make a giant Belgian waffle, drown it in syrup and butter, then go order a cheese steak from the grill , but have the fry cook put the contents on said waffle. I’m pretty sure my cholesterol is still wrecked, 17 years later, because of this.

Doughnut is the original, generally preferred spelling of the word. It is more common in the United States and vastly more common internationally. Donut is an Americanized, shortened version of donut that isn’t incorrect, but it is much less common. ( link )

“PS-is it donut or doughnut?”

Doughnut... it’s dough in the shape of a nut.

And I doughnut-burger once... I found it to be worse than a regular, decent-quality burger.  The sweetness of a doughnut doesn’t go with meat according to my taste buds.

My problem is it goes entirely to the gut, and I’m kind of slim built, so looks worse than it is. Also, I had a hypertension scare awhile back and was able to avoid medication and get my BP down to normal by dropping 15lbs, so I need to be careful about it edging back up.

The Carl’s and Hardee’s version of the food fad is known as the Big Fried Cheese (BFC), and consists of a blend of cheddar and mozzarella cheeses coated in a seasoned breading.

Both restaurants will be getting signature sandwiches that contain the fried cheese on the menu. Carl’s and Hardee’s will both have a BFC Angus Thickburger featuring the cheese and a 1/3 pound patty, while Hardee’s will also have a BFC Frisco Breakfast sandwich that adds egg, sliced cheese, and bacon to the gooey concoction.

And your heart hasn’t exploded this morning?

It looks like it tastes fantastic...

right before it clogs your aorta, causing heart valves hit the atrium walls during a- fib like an interference engine with a broken timing belt.

and it spikes blood sugar so high your pancreas explodes trying to push that much insulin, and your brain basically goes BSOD .

But that could just be me being hyperbolic and wanting to find a reason NOT to eat it.

I just heard a radio ad for this and assumed it was one donut cut in half with chicken between it, not two whole donuts! That may be a little overpowering like you said. Definitely skipping the pickle if I try it. It sounds really good, like the next evolution of chicken and waffles.

calories are calories, but that is a bit of protein wrapped in metric TON of carbohydrates.

like 800 calories from sugars and bread variants... 60 calories of chicken meat buried in there somewhere.

That’s impressive. We just put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on a glazed donut. There were also the super-greasy hashbrown patties that, when dipped in the “syrup” which I think was just light karo, tasted like antifreeze.

I never used the BMI scale as a way to measure my body. Height and weight can look different in several ways. Example, I have a buddy who plays in the NFL, nose tackle. 6'2 315, 9% body fat . BMI says 41.

Kinja'd!!! BoxerFanatic, troublesome iconoclast. > i86hotdogs
02/26/2020 at 12:49

probably the only reason that it isn’t is the air infusion in those donuts being not as dense as some other pastry products.

I am trying to anti-justify it... to myself, because it is lunch time, and my mouth is watering just looking at it...

but I know it is an evil temptation... and this is the first day of Lent, and all that...
