I introduced my coworker to geocaching after work today. One in a small city park and one at the turn off to “swinging bridge road ” so we follow the gravel road for 2 miles and there they are a small one and a long one. Small one said 15 tons, long one said 3 tons, since we are in a work rental van we didn’t chance it and walked across the big one. Really neat.

Nice! Exactly the kind of place I love to stumble upon.

This is cool. I’d definitely be wary of going on it.

somehow the “sturdier” bridge looks less so... maybe its the lack of guardrails

I think it is the lack of guardrails.  The less unstable one looks like it's a shorter span and I couldn't help but notice that the 3 ton bridge appears to all be the color of rust and the other has at least some painted bits..

That looks like it’s in the middle of nowhere...never follow the gravel road!

So the funny thing about the dueling banjos, this area is near lake of the Ozarks, which is a lake built by a dam......

It’s fun. I’ve come up empty handed more than a few times.

I just checked and haven’t been active since 2017, but signed up in 2012 and with only 119 finds.

I forget about it sometimes, but the internet doesn’t forget. lol

It has a much shorter span though.

You do seem to end up with big chunks of time to kill in weird places, so it would be a sensible hobby for you.

Cool bridges! I'd send my truck on them.

The only thing I’ve ever done in Jackson, MS is  eat lunch at Popeyes on I-55. I would not recommend that.

what is geocaching?

It’s similar to a scavenger hunt using gps Coordinates. People will put a little paper log inside a Tupperware, ammo box, or even as small as a pill bottle and hide it in a park or public place record the coordinates and create a cache.
