Here we have a 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone apparently named “Ethyl” being sold by an Idaho classic car dealership. Being a ‘65, this would be the second year of the first-gen Cyclone, which means it came from the factory with a four-barrel, 200 horsepower 289 V8, although this one has a 302 in it now. In the first few years, the Cyclone was a sporty options package for the Comet, although in 1968 it became its own model when the Comet was replaced. Some of the things the Cyclone package could get you in ‘65 were bucket seats, black-out grille, center console, fancier gau ge cluster, engine dress-up kit, and a white or black vinyl roof.
According to the seller, “Restoration included full body and paint with Dupont Chroma products, complete interior replacement, rebuilt engine and transmission.
302 with Edelbrock intake, 4 barrel carb, headers, dual exhaust with flowmasters and turn downs. Sounds great!
Rebuilt C4 auto with a B&M Shifter.
4 wheel disc brake upgrade
Manual brakes and steering
Torque Thrust II Wheels
Tires show no visible wear

If I was taking a trip tomorrow and driving a car from our inventory, this would be the one! Extremely clean, looks great and drives great.

However... at $12,995, is it nice price, or crack pipe ?

Below what you could build it for. It’s a nice driver yeah NP. Get one that needs paint and rust repair you’ll be at that number before you touch the interior or engine.

I’m not a fan of the mods, but I tend to like old cars stock or close to it.
I like the 65 Comet - almost bought a Caliente convertible many years ago.
Tentative NP from me - with any old car it's subject to a detailed inspection for bondo, poor wreck repair, frame damage, etc.
