This beautiful Chevy Malibu convertible with the 327 was out on the first warm day we’ve had in a while. However, the owner very much did not want to talk to me.

What a majestic sight! I don’t know the specific model of this Bentley. It’s a Bentley Brooklands. Thank you Fintail.

Kinja'd!!!

I have to admit, I was taken aback at the petal-to-the-metal-ain’t-care attitude of the driver of this skid, especially when driving feet away from untrained plebs like me. The dump was already dreary on this cold wet day (but no wait!), but the sheer balls of this driver is what I remember. He almost tipped the thing on the huge trash piles several times. Also, those tires.

I have not seen a two door Camry in quite a while. It’s surprising how something can be so rare yet so viscerally mundane.

Ooh, rare not-quite-JDM goodness! I am reminded by that fading clear coat that the Infinity M45 is actually old now. And so am I (I am still quite young). What was this called in Japan again?

Kinja'd!!!

I haven’t seen a Caprice this clean in a while.

Kinja'd!!!

That must be one heavy container.

Not pictured: IH Scout pickup (first gen). I wish I had a picture, since it was very clean.

Bentley Brooklands, I believe.

That Infiniti M45 is JDM Nissan Fu ga, debuted here for the 2006 MY, so they can be getting up there. Prior model was JDM Nissan Cedric/Gloria, I prefer those old names.

Too bad about Chevelle guy. Often when I take my old car out, people talk to me about it, I always oblige them.

Love that Malibu!

In his defense, he later appeared to be preoccupied with a phone call. And you nailed the Bentley. Thanks.

I’m still waiting to catch one of the classic Toyota Land Cruiser drivers at that Kroger. I’ve often entered the parking lot at the same time, but never got to them in time. This one Kroger (where the Malibu was) is a hub for classic cars for some reason.

There’s an old fashioned drive in not insanely far from me that is also a magnet for old cars, and hosts meetings a lot. I’m always a little lazy for it though. This area also doesn’t have a really organized cars and coffee or similar. Not a huge car-social scene, maybe as the weather much of the year keeps many cars indoors. But when old cars encounter each other on the road, there’s often a wave or a thumbs up.

I say “hub” but I really mean that people just love to drive their classics to go grocery shopping or fill up at the Kroger’s gas station.

I saw a movie at a drive in once, a long time ago. The movie (Planes) wasn’t very good but I still remember having fun. I imagine it is not as much fun if you are alone, however. Really more of a group thing.

One will find that more here in the summer.  I managed to get my car out for about 20 minutes yesterday.  I soon noticed some mist in the air, and sensed rain was approaching, so I took it back to the garage.  10 minutes later, it was pouring.

I meant drive in restaurant. I think in this area, most drive in movies closed about 20 years ago - the land is too valuable now. I remember going to those when I was a kid, fun times.

You just reminded me that my neighbor’s fin tail Mercedes hasn’t moved in quite a while. I know it runs, but he never drives it, based on the copious amount of dust on it. I’m pretty sure a little rain still gets on the front.

That car should be driven. They drive quite nicely, a lot more like a modern car than most of the era. And like cars of the era, they aren’t exactly immune to rust, this one looks solid at least from the distance. I can’t tell much about it from this distance, but from what I see it is likely no later than 1962, a 6cyl car, possibly a 220 (lowline 6cyl car, single carb).

Yes, everything from the interior to the exterior paint appears to be an older but very thorough restoration. Still, he has so many cars to drive (15, by my count) and we haven’t had any good driving weather for a while.
