Kinja'd!!!

We’re starting this one off weird.

It’s Harley time. Which... I never thought would be words coming out of my mouth. But these ones are pretty cool. No chromed-out, tassled monstrosities.

Am I being swayed by the green paint job? Yes. 100%. Just look at it.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

And here’s a bike I didn’t know existed. Proving that more tire and some matte paint can make anything cool. Okay, fine. That exhaust is pretty bitchin’. (do people still use bitchin’? )

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

This one’s an honorary Harley. I’d be embarrassed to ride it, but I do like the color. God, between the scout and the FTR, Indian has slowly became one of my favorite manufacturers. Is this how boomers viewed Harley Davidson..? Am I... Old..? This blue/white/tan combo reminds me of an old strat you’d see the beastie boys using while playing a show on a California beach on a summer afternoon.... Or something like that. Maybe a 50's Chevrolet. Vintage kitchen appliance?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Seems like every time I do a bike search, I come across a dozen weird old Hondas I’ve never heard of. Boring conservative Honda in the four wheel world, yet so quirky and fun when you see their two wheeled lineup.

Case in point, the Honda Gorilla. Just try telling me that this doesn’t look like a barrel of fun.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

While not particularly *weird*, I do think a Goldwing of this vintage is super interesting. Good deal? Stolen bike?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I’m positive I’d lose my license with this, as I’d be unable to contain the desire to find sick jumps on my daily commute.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

So this pops up immediately after Fortnine’s awesome new video on a slightly rarer version. Know anything about these?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Sport bikes seem to be fairly light on CL lately. The closest thing I’ve found that interests me is this RnineT. I know nothing about these, but it seems to be cashing in on the retro trends... I’m curious how it rides. My good friend just traded in his ninja for one and he seems to love it.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Let’s end this on another Bavarian. I don’t know the market well enough to judge the price, but I like seeing a bike like this that’s clearly been used as it should be! Someday I’ll have a mid-size adv.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

You guys have anything fun to share? I just go to motorcycles, and search without any search terms. Most of the time I’ll filter out dealers.

Perfect for the newbie:

I like these, depreciating , but I think the next year they gained a less 2003-looking gauge cluster (with gear indicator):

I like blue, it has a gear indicator, and looks comfy:

I like these too, also blue:

I think I’d die in the first hour or two:

That blue Busa is gorgeous. I’m always stunned when I realize how little these things go for. Oh and “John Hollywood” might be the most salesman-y name of all time.

I’ve seen that turbo one for a while now. I’m scared to even click the link for fear of it’s aura rubbing off on me.

That Honda sounds like something special.

Busas have been a guilty pleasure for me for a long time, maybe now less guilty. I didn’t care for them when they were new around 90 years ago, and they have a less than positive stereotype.  A guy in my office building used to long distance commute on one, and I had some jealousy - seemed like a cool dashing thing, a bike that can be in the 200 club and also be a docile DD if you do it right. And the ergos look comfortable. If I ever get back on 2 wheels, I’ll have to try one.  Hated it once, could end up loving it.

Pfft. Be the decider! :)

I bought the first bike i looked at a few months ago before i ever learned to ride. Friend drove it home. I just passed basic riding course and endorsement test last weekend. Will be taking it out tomorrow for practice.

97 ninja 500 with 20k. Recent tires brakes and oil change. $1200 from a nice pregnant lady who can't find time to ride.

Ohhhhh nice! I love that angular body and seat. Are you looking on CL or elsewhere..? I never seem to find anything in remotely rideable shape under 2k...

My sleepy brain isn’t comprehending what you’re saying.

If you’re worried I’m getting a Harley, don’t. Not happening. Although I AM curious to see their naked and adv bike...

Also jumped into the BaT rabbit hole. If only I was 6 “ shorter and proportionally lighter:

Old dual (round) headlight sportbikes really get to me. I don’t know what it is - I was a kid when these were new, and they did it then, too. I just imagine they are fussy to ride, and unfortunately, are not made for taller/larger riders. I’d throw out my back in 5 minutes on that thing.

You clearly have no idea how bad HD is.  How deep into debt they’ve gone convincing anyone they are or were relevant since the sunset of WWII.  When those blinders come off you will be ashamed.

I kinda want one of these...

1975 BMW R60/6

or...

1969 Triumph Bonneville

The BMW because I’ve just always wanted to own one, and the Triumph because it reminds me of the first bike I bought (in a crate, disassembled and missing a lot more parts than the seller let on,  for less than $100).

I just sold a 2013 Triumph Thruxton ace cafe. Totally fell for the european retro thing, but regretted it when I found it too top heavy and difficult to maneuver for a small statured guy like me. I read the RnineT suffers the same problem inspite of its amazing aesthetic. So I took some advice from a fellow short guy and found myself a 1992 Honda VRF400R RC30, currently on a boat from Japan!

Oh man. I'm pretty jealous. My dream bike is one of the 250cc v4 Japanese sport bikes from the 90's, but I'd have a tough time fitting on one for more than a few minutes.

I like the old one and really like the 07, but those turn of the century models just look weird to me.  I also hear the maintenance is awful, I know of someone who calls the general 00 era the “malaise era” of Ducati.

Awesome!  Wish I could fit on one of those, but maybe a nice display piece, too.  They had the look.

Thanks! Love the 90s color . very green/teal in person.   I got it of ferup. Lots of decent bikes on FB marketplace too. It had been for sale a while at 1600 and she had j ust dropped it to $1200 when i was search ing. My friend test rode it and we made a deal .

the msf class was fun - even if I hadnt passed I wouldnt have regretted it. I’m def going back for more advanced later.

Too windy and unpreductable to ride today unfortunately .

Me too. It was down to a CBR250RR(MC22 ) or the VFR400R(NC30) . I ended up getting the NC30 for the price of an MC22 since it seemed a bit more special.

I had a Harley for a little while and ended up trading it in on the monster. It was like one summer. I grew up with the things in the mindset that all other bikes are inferior. Well, turns out, if you actually ride, Harleys suck big fat donkey balls. Certain models might be really good at one particular aspect of riding, but will blow at literally everything else. I promise you, a Harley will not fit your use case.

Is it really worse than a chain on an ADV?

IMO, all ADV/touring bikes should be shaft drive. Chains are way too much maintenance for mile monsters, especially if they see dirt.

If Indian put that teal and white color scheme on a scout bobber I would probably have bought one already.
