The Seattle Times reports some place in Kirkland that measures stuff and congestion thingies, alleges that Everett, WA, now has the worst traffic congestion in the country.
94 minutes? Even that’s a little optimistic.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I’ve lived in Everett since 2011, and my office is based in Everett, though it takes me as far south as Federal Way, as far east as Cle Elum, as far west as Poulsbo, and as far north as Bellingham, please allow me offer this anecdote:
Can confirm, shit's rough, yo. Glad I didn't move further north!

And yet, nothing will be done to reduce congestion or improve infrastructure.

Hey, I’ll have you know the light rail is coming in 2035! That’s only 15 years of spiraling chaos away!

I sometimes get stopped by a red light on my commute. It’s brutal.

“as of 2016 ”
I don’t know Everett particularly well anymore, but if growth and traffic is anything like m y area, the worst of it has come post-2016.

Why it just so happens that we were given a fantastic toll lane addition on our busiest highways that has vastly reduced traffic for everyone! And they even cut tolls across a major bridge to make up for the new toll!

Whadayamean? They legalized pot, didn’t they? That won’t reduce congestion, but it should make everyone care less.

Not remotely accurate in this case: the light rail is very popular for commuters where it already exists (especially for airport traffic) and people are already buying houses where it’s expanding in anticipation of easing their commutes. I don’t even live very close to the line but plan to exchange my downtown parking space for a park-and-ride experience that’s both faster and more convenient, and will save me something like $3000 per year before we even get into gas, insurance, etc.

That’s true and it’s because NYC has functional public transportation, or at least functional compared to DC and its commuter suburbs.

True, but the house we lost out on in Snohomish was probably a better buy...

Quit and work for yourself. Name your business Madam something or other ’s then coordinate your staff’s movements from home or seedy lounge nearby.

I’ve found that it’s becoming quite expensive to own a car. I'm looking at my insurance premiums, registration fees for three cars, and then there's the actual gas and maintenance items... And unexpected repairs. And with spooky taxes constantly threatened (like that proposed tax on how many MILES you drive...), vehicle ownership will evolve to a luxury good over time.

A luxury for the office drones like me or a necessary work tool for more mobile craftsmen/salespersons/high-end male escorts like you. Frankly, that would make the world a better place.. . You and I will still own a car or two for hobby reasons but I certainly don’t much enjoy sitting in traffic and wouldn’t miss it. I traded a tolerable bus commute for better real estate and an executive parking space...the former was worth it but I’m very ready for light rail to make the latter obsolete.

In some places, arguably ...in this case not where it’s expanding to. Definitely in some of the places it went first, though.

Atlanta isn’t that bad, if you don’t drive. If you do, good luck.
Its not just the congestion, but congestion on one way streets (all named Peachtree St) with convoluted crooked intersections.
