I trash them all. Here’s the thing, though: we keep hearing about colossal ad buys, tens of millions of dollars, but who’s watching them? I don’t personally view any network television, nor any cable news and, therefore, zero  commercials. If I find myself somewhere, like a sports bar, for example, where there’s a television on the wall somewhere that I cannot hear, then I see some politician or other coming up with the same commercial every seven minutes and I wonder what this could possibly accomplish.

Would they line up behind Bernie or Bloomberg as the GOP has fallen in behind President Trump? (I don’t know, nor would I try to predict...) President Trump has been highly adroit at deranging the left. For sheer animal cunning, the man deserves credit.

What grinds my gears are the local TV spots. I don’t even watch a lot of TV, but it seems every time I turn it on, there he is. In this fairly progessive area, I think he has an uphill battle and knows it, but I doubt he’ll convince many locals.

Around here, if Bezos or Gates ran, it would be something.

I know you’ve heard it before, but that kind of thinking is how you get such low voter turnouts. I don’t pretend to understand how things in your riding work, and it very well could be locked in regardless of how you vote. That being said every vote matters, even if I disagree with it.

If I could pick between someone who will vote against my interests, and someone who supports my interests but doesn’t vote, I’ll take the voter every day of the week.

Some commentary that I recently read put forth that between President Trump on the right, and Bernie Sanders on the left, maybe the two-party thing is going to get shattered.

I don’t know enough about American politics to deny that, but I think the two party system is too entrenched and there are too many interested parties that benefit from the 2 party system.

I’m up here in Canada, Onterrible down by Toronto, so we’re kind of Canada’s Florida. Our political system isn’t much better as it’s almost always either the Liberal or the Conservative party that ‘win’ the election, but sometimes they only get a minority of the seats so they have to cooperate with the other parties.

We also made a change recently where every vote gets each party a certain amount of money (we ‘ strictly’ regulate campaign spending so that money actually counts), so even if the Green Party isn’t expected to even win any seats, a vote for them isn’t entirely wasted as it  still helps them grow stronger in the future.

As an outsider looking in, the US democracy is like a very sick old patient . You guys need a very, very thorough reform to remove all the cancer and the legacy stuff. Remove the money, the special interests , remove the winner takes all approach, force a real multi party system where you need coalitions, no more gerrymandering, a party that gets 30% of the vote gets 30% of the influence (and not 0% or 100%), limit  campaigns to a month, and on and on.

Nah, he’s in California, it literally does not matter how he votes, all of California’s electoral votes will go to whatever candidate the democrats put up.  And 2016 proved primaries don’t matter to the DNC, they’ll put up whatever candidate they want anyway.
