I’ve always loved the 2000.

On the one hand, I’m glad that more people are starting to appreciate these cars. On the other hand, the “like a British sports car, but well-built and reliable” car is probably gonna get expensive. There are about three of these things in my area, and I’ve never seen any of them actually move, which makes me sad. Such cheerful little cars shouldn’t be confined to driveways and fields...

Huge fan of these, and always wanted one with a CA18DET & 5MT. Sadly, at 6'3", I am just a bit too tall, unless I am going to for severely windswept look.

Yeah the SR20DET is a popular swap. Also, the KA24 is in many of them...great swap at lower cost than the more popular SR20 and you can get them up into the high 200 HP range as well.
Regarding height, the 68-70 high windshield models are surprisingly well suited for taller folks.

KA’s are definitely more of a dime-a-dozen engine, thanks to the ubiquity in both the American 240's as well as the hardbody pickups of the 90's. I always figured the CA would be the better route because it’s about 50 lbs lighter than the SR, and it is n’t be like I would want to go after huge power numbers anyway. The factory spec of 166hp should be plenty to make a ~2,000 lb Roadster feel thoroughly quick in its home element of twisty roads.
Gorgeous cars though, and fair examples that need a little bit of work still pop up occasionally for reasonable amounts of money.
