Knowing how poorly our legal system works, he’ll be out on good behaviour by next Friday.
... assuming the courts could actually convict him that fast.

He will not be convicted that fast. First will be his bail hearing, to determine if he won’t show up to court, if he’s a danger to the public, or if releasing him would put the application of justice into disrepute.
Then he’ll have another week or month until his next court day, when his lawyer situation will get sorted out. Then another week or month for him to find out how he wants to proceed. Maybe he’ll plead out. Or a trial will be set in a few months, everyone will get subpoena’d, and then at the last minute when he realizes that he’s screwed, he’ll plead out. Likely will get time served at time and a half credit, and then be released.
This is my every week.

Man, justice in the Maritimes was swift and brutal in comparison. The hardest of the hard would weep at the prospect of a stint in Dorchester or Renous .
I mean it’s probably for the best to not throw away the keys and attempt rehabilitation, but we heard the stories growing up and we were definitely “scared straight.”

Everyone has their day in court.
We have stuff that went to court ten months ago that is finally going to preliminary trial next week. Which means it could take another few months before a verdict is reached. Stuff is slow.
