I either zigged when I should have zagged or I zigged way too hard cuz I’m feeling a lot like that poor allroad. Volleyball is dangerous!
At first I thought someone kicked me as we both went after the ball but there was no o ne within legs length of me. I felt it right as I pushed off to go after the ball. I’m thinking a pulled calf muscle. One of the guys there had torn his Achilles tendon and had me all freaked out but I don’t really think that’s it. Tomorrow I have to go tour some schools roofs for a replacement project. That will be wonderful

Likely tore a few muscle fibers where the calf meets the Achilles tendon. Most of the time, nothing needs to be done. Climbing ladders might not be the best idea tho.

Sounds familiar! I split my right calf playing on the ice with the kids. I split my left calf while teaching my sprinters how to use starting blocks. Both were the res ult of t he gatrocnemius splitting laterally and separating from the soleus. Both times I heard a pop and felt the pain immediately. The first time was loud enough for my kids to hear it.
Recovery for me required physical therapy. They did deep tissue massage, “needling” (deep acupunct ure), stretches, and specific exercises. Both sides recovered normally, but it took a couple of months.
Good luck to you. Use the RICE method and a light wrap to alleviate pain and keep the swelling down.
