it hurt my soul to see how difficult that stupid plastic looks like it was to remove.

you speak the truth. I suspect if it’d be removed 11 years ago when it was new it would have been far easier. but it’s been baked on, and torn at the corners and such

Our refrigerator still has bits of the protective plastic sticking out from under the handles because they attached the handles before removing the plastic. It’s infuriating. I have to remove the handles to get the last of the plastic off. Of course, that risks scratching the very surface the plastic was supposed to protect in the first place.

this appears to be SOP, as mine has had at least 2 previous owners who left it on.
It being partially torn off on one, and the plastic damaged on the others I couldnt leave it any longer

My in-laws drove an MDX for several years and recently traded it in on a new one. To my knowledge, the one they traded in still had the protective covering on the sill plates when they handed over the keys. It’s not that they were that protective of the car - they just never bothered to take the covering off. It drove me nuts every time I rode in it.

My car still has the plastic film on the gas pedal. It came like that and I never peeled it off.
Have quite a few appliances that still have smooth ones on the screens.

plastic film on the pedals? that sounds potentially dangerous

It is only on the gas pedal and it actually gives it more grip than a slippery shiny metal one. It has worn through on the raised sections and that’s the only reason I even realized it hadn’t been removed.

I had a technician that did that to the lab computer I bought her. I went to peel it off one day, and she stopped me. It stayed on for three years until she left the lab.

When I worked at the Ford dealership I used to walk around taking the blue covers off the Ecoboost badges.
Once I found on on an F-150 that was 2-3 years old. But it wasnt ours just in for service. I told the customer about it and he was like “I thought it was just a blue badge!” I let him take it off.

My GTI had it on the dead pedal for a long time. Eventually it looked like hell so I peeled it. Still looked like hell underneath. :shrug.

I mean, there’s leaving them on things you don’t look at all the time, which isn’t quite as weird, but leaving it on a computer you use and look at constantly? Like a screen protector sheet?

Yeah, like that. I teased her plenty about it. Didn’t change her mind though.
