Thanks! Not sure if I’ll do a full OPPO review, but I’d be very happy to answer any question you’ve got. Spec is Everlasting Silver EX Premium AWD w/ tow package (and interior lighting pkg and illuminated scuff plates - the two items we wouldn’t have optioned if we had custom ordered - we put a deposit down on one of their existing allocations ).

They are in very high demand, for sure. We got lucky and they had one in the pipeline that was almost exactly what we wanted, so we only waited a month.
Dealer was really good. Negotiated everything ahead of time and agreed on price - $1000 under MSRP with incentive, and they didn’t make me pay for about $500 in options that were on the “build”
that I didn’t want (floor mats, rear mat, cargo cover & net).

Thanks! My kids are already loving the extra space. The overall exterior
dimensions are barely larger than our MDX, but the fact that it’s more upright and squared off makes a big difference inside.

I don’t have any questions yet really- my wife’s current lease isn’t up until December, so we haven’t done any real shopping yet. She seems convinced that she needs 3 rows though, but doesn’t want anything too big. Contradictory goals, of course.
My goal is to get her to look at a couple of good options besides the Lexus RXL.

My wife similarly didn’t want something too big (no way she was going to drive a Suburban). Had an ‘08 CX-9, and ‘14 MDX previous, and the Telluride is barely
bigger in exterior
dimensions, but much roomier inside.
It’s won pretty much ever comparison it’s been in so far
, and is MT’s SUV of the Year and a C&D Top 10. Just point her to some of those if she needs convincing. Lots of glowing owner reviews on Edmunds, too, and preliminary long-term tests also seems really good.
Do have to consider dealer experience, as well, of course. My wife won’t get the “Acura experience” like she’s used to, and it may be tougher to get a loaner - we’ll see, I guess.

it out of the park on these. Seems like this car could be for Kia what the first Lexus LS was for Toyota.

Hmmm, all of that sounds good.
The dealer experience post-sale is my problem, not hers, but I’m spoiled by Lexus and Mercedes loaners. We have extra cars though.
The only cars she’s ever had were a 98 CRV, 11 RX350, 15 X3, and 17 RX350. All acquired new. So she’s a bit spoiled by Lexus.

I hope so. IMO the car that convinced people Hyundai doesn’t make shitboxes anymore was the 4th generation Elantra. Tons are still on the road a decade after they sold the last one. For Kia, the third generation Optima was that car, at least for me. For some reason I’ve always had the perception that Kia was a slightly up-market Hyundai (I am aware that this is not, in fact, true). Hopefully these will continue to build their public image.

I’m as far from a SUV/ crossover fan as you can get... but I LOVE these things! Seriously, KIA knocked the design out of the park .
Every time I see a Telluride, I can’t help but gawk and rubberneck until I have to turn my head back to the road ahead; they have fantastic road presence.

Yeah, they did a great job. Design matters!
Will be interesting to see the sales numbers of the Telluride vs. the Palisade, since the design is the only real difference. Would be interested to know how many Palisade buyers these first couple years
actually wanted a Telluride, but either were unwilling to wait or wanted a better deal than could be had on the Kia.

Yeah, that Optima was/is a nice car.
Kia/Hyundai/Genesis are really making great cars, but it does take time for perceptions to change. Hopefully in another 5-10 years, they’ll retain their value like a Toyota or Honda does.
I’m looking forward to seeing more N products from Biermann!

Yeah, they’re flying off lots. The first time we tried to get a test drive (out of town), a family showed up right before us and ended up buying it. We got lucky and our local dealer had an allocation in the pipeline that was almost exactly what we wanted. Put a deposit down, and it was ours a month later. Buyers making custom orders are waiting 5-6 months.

I agree. While I like the Palisade and think Hyundai did a good enough job with its design to separate it from the Telluride, IMO it just looks “fine”; unique enough while not being offensive to the eyes, but nothing that really stands out.
But the Telluride, I can’t even pinpoint what exactly it is that stands out so much to me so maybe it’s just all the little details that add up, but man, I just LOVE the way they look.

I mean, google says the Edge ST weighs 4477 lbs while the lightest Edge is 3959 lbs. The Palisade is allegedly between 4127 and 4387 lbs and has 291 hp/262 lb-ft to the ST’s 335/380. It’d be cool to have more than one hot crossover from a lower value/higher volume brand. An Equinox SS would be kinda cool too.

It’s a very clean, restrained design compared with everything the Palisade has going on.
