Yes, he’s blocking three handicapped spots with one truck. If he had moved fifty feet ahead, he wouldn’t have blocked anyone. He was parked there for half an hour. There were no markings on the truck, so no way to know who to call without confronting the driver. I guess I could have gone downstairs and coughed on him. Here buddy, have the flu.

He was probably busy flirting with the front desk clerks.

This happened to me once at the medical center when I was trying to get to work. Mail truck blocked me from entering the building. I told the postmaster in the campus post office he was delivering to. Postmaster came out and chewed the driver a new one in front of everyone and filed a formal complaint with his boss. Never happened again.

You don't need to confront the driver, just climb into the cab and cough on the steering wheel and dashboard.

I parked in the first space adjacent to the yellow striped area at the local Wal-Mart the other day. As I got out of the truck, a lady tried to pull into the striped zone between my truck and the person parked in the handicap spot. I stood there until she changed her mind about her parking choices. As I walked into the store, I spotted a young woman driving her car with a baby in her lap. I wanted to yell at her. I didn’t.

People are infuriating sometimes.

I would poop on the drivers seat. Shit happens!

I’d never go there. Maybe if there was some dog poop nearby, but I’d never be able to drop a deuce on his seat.

Obviously blocking handicapped spaces is especially bad, but honestly I’m really not a fan of “my truck’s too big, so I’ll just park wherever with it” in general. If your truck is too big, it’s a sign you need to use smaller trucks. Granted, that can be wasteful when other reasonable accommodations can be made, but if you leave that decision up to the trucking company, they are going to say any decision is reasonable.

I agree with you. This is clearly a case of a lazy driver. There’s a row of empty spots visible in the photo. He could have parked there. Perhaps if a couple of people had parked to block him in, he would have a better understanding of how lazy and rude he’s being.

Delivering can be tough. “ Fifty feet ahead” might sound reasonable to you, but multiply that by however many stops he has and it could add a significant amount of t ime. I don’t know his particular situation, but when you have hundreds, or even thousands of pounds of gear to offload and you’re crunched for time you park as close as possible. Many times that means taking up multiple spots, blocking a car for a few minutes, getting chewed out by other drivers, etc. As for the amount of time spent inside.... Oh boy. It could be that the driver was lazy, but much more likely is that he wanted to leave and was being kept from it. I’ve had business customers spend over an hour opening everything before signing for a delivery. Or been sent on wild goose chase for someone to sign off because no one was willing to take responsibility. And hundreds of other time wasters.

At the end of the day, it’s much more difficult for the driver than it is for the people who may have been inconvenienced for a few minutes. If they park legally and in a manor that makes everyone around them happy, they can’t keep up with the schedule. That results in lower pay, or loss of job. If they park illegally, they’re hated AND they’re forced to take full responsibility from their bosses for complaints, tickets, etc. Despite company culture requiring illegal parking to complete shifts.

Just a slightly different perspective...
