Maybe you guys and gals think differently but I believe Holden should of been sold alongside Vauxhall and Opel to PSA.
Vauxhall/Opel and PSA have been building cars for the U.K., Ireland, Malta and Cyprus for some time.

PSA wouldn’t have been interested. They don’t even import their own cars here. That’s done by a third party, Inchcape. Inchcape also happens to distribute Subaru in Oz and NZ.
So the reality is... there was never anything sufficient here to make it worth their while.

The U.K. being RHD doesn’t get all of what PSA has to offer.
You guys get less still and less choice in engines and spec.
But surely with others pulling out of A/NZ it must leave a bit of a vacuum behind for someone to fill.

I’m sure you’ve heard of MG? Great Wall? SsangYong? Haval? LDV? And, of course, Kia and Hyundai.
Honestly...the Koreans and the Chinese are going quite well in our SUV obsessed market. Certainly keeping the Japanese makers honest...
The lack of choice in European vehicle specification reflects our distance from those manufacturers. If we want something specific then it needs to be ordered...that might take six months. Better for the importer to order 200 vehicles with the same specification, spread them over four shipments annually and call it done. At least, that’s how Inchcape seem to do it with Peugeot and Citroen cars...though there’s some variation in the Peugeot commercial range.

Ye’, I’m aware of those.
Just meaning the range from up here is limited down there.
But ye’, distance and availability is a big factor.
Ye’, the more local manufacturers would fill the void.

I don’t really know Australian politics but I think t he social commentary and GM critique is spot on.
