I spent half a day in San Francisco this past summer being a tourist and am pleased to say that I did not knowingly encounter any  human feces.

Have several friends South of Market working ‘internet startups’... lots of needles and waste. According to the media reports on the “incident reporting” it’s highly variable, neighborhood by neighborhood.

SF doesn’t have the lock on the problem, BTW. Certain areas around DTLA and even SD are seeing similar issues, including a hepatitis outbreak last year.
