I stopped by Porsche South Bay

I was in Los Angeles for work and had a few hours between my lunch meeting and my dinner with a colleague, so I decided to visit Porsche South Bay.

What a treat.

It is one of a handful of classic Porsche service centers, which perform full restorations. I really enjoyed looking at the cars and talking to the staff.

A beautiful 914-6.

A Signal Yellow 911S. Goodness.

A white 993 RS—something I’ve never seen in person before.

A 964 America Roadster ( a turbo body on a naturally aspirated cabriolet).

This 911 SC was one of my favorite cars.

964 Speedster.

930 Coupe.

A beautiful 991.2 GT3 with options that put the price over $230k. Yikes.

Lastly, a Miami Blue 991 Turbo S.

When I’m on the road, I’ve started this new habit of stopping by dealers to ask “Do you have anything special?”

I’m doing this because its fine, folks at the dealers seem to enjoy answering that question, and because a friend recently died who loved to do this at Ferrari shops. So its a bit of a tribute coupled with remembering to take time to enjoy things you love. And I love looking at Porsches—especially air cooled ones.

Back in my old neck of the woods, eh? I remember when it was Vasek Polak Porsche+Audi in that area, and spent a lot of time at the BMW dealers getting parts for my fleet.

Love that color on the 911SC. When I get my SC targa it’s going to be in that color.

I wish I was over there instead of enjoying the single-digit temps we were having here in STL. I should have you pick up some U-No bars whilst you’re out there as I can’t find them anywhere here, and haven’t had one since I was last in LA/OC back in 2018.

I’ll be in town in a few weeks for a hockey game. Maybe I’ll stop by and kill some time here beforehand. Thanks!

Side note, I live so close to the Bay Area, but I almost never go these days. Because Bay Area.

I agree that SC is perfect. The Targa prices seem to be coming down on SCs and Carrera 3.2s.
