That last bumper profile looks like it's about to throw some punches

Weren’t most of these chucked by the owners? I almost wonder if these oddities would be worth more in the future

Big bumpers are good for bumping:

I’m a 5mph bumper apologist, but man did Lamborghini need to try at least a little harder here...

Could be worse. Ever seen a European spec Wrangler? Apparently EU auto regs don’t allow for “open” fenders so we get this:
It looks like it’s wearing a mouth guard.

Hahah so true. I have literally done this in my buddys 560SL. I was driving behind him in his 87 325i vert and he had just put brand new tires on that day. It starts heavily raining and at one point hes in front of me and guns it a little and in an instant was turned around facing me and the car was going backwards over the curb lol. He couldnt get it out of the rainy mud so he told me to come behind him in the SL and bump him. Boom, knocked him free and no damage to either car

People moan and groan about 5 mph bumpers, but they could take a parking lot shunt or garage bump with no damage. Worst case scenario for the MB, they’d need to be realigned - not a difficult job. Ugly, but useful, and saved money in the long run. Today, if your bumper gets hit by a ping pong ball, there goes a grand.

Totally agreed. Especially if its a utility vehicle or a sedan. I don’t want my SUV to have an AMG package with staggered tires and a bumper that cant take a sneeze without damaging

Seeing delicate modern plastic covers on supposedly rugged “utility” vehicles amuses me.
The best are old style chrome bumpers with overriders. You can cause real damage to a modern car with those, and not have a scratch.

Lol on that topic I just saw the new defender and my god is that car odd and quirky. Has these metal looking plastic bits on the hood to look rugged, a weird cubbyhole behind the center console, the sunroof starts awkwardly far back so that it’s more kinda behind you than on top of you in the front lol. Overall in my two minute walk around at the auto show my biggest takeaway is I think it’s just a weird choice to have metal looking plastic on the hood

What irks me about that design is the big blind spot/C-pillar design, which doesn’t seem to have any real function but being different for the sake of different. I suspect it will create issues, as locally anyway, people who choose that brand don’t seem to be the best drivers.
The Discovery is also awkward to me, and although I know the asymmetrical rear is a heritage theme, I don’t think it works.
