I haven’t seen the movie in 20 years or more, but I was thinking about it for some reason today.

Anti-eminent domain, anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalism even. Thematically it’s almost like a postwar Ealing comedy. Except Disney-fied of course.

But it is pro Beetle, and therefore pro Hitler.

Was it an eminent domain issue? I thought he was just really heavy handed/unethical in pressuring them to sell, didn't think the government was involved

I’m pro-Jojo Rabbit. What does that make me?

Probably, but I don’t think it makes much difference thematically. Herbie sticks it to the man either way.
