“Brown: Orange, but darker”
Okay now I’m sad that brown is left out while Roy G. Biv gets to live it up in the sky rave.
(edit) the historical color categorization lesson was neat. Makes you wonder if civilization started over from scratch, what concepts would diverge and what would be stay absolute.
okay the brown/orange square with the black/white background was pretty cool. This... Might be the perfect YouTube video.

I heard an interview with a scientist once who for fun went out of his way to NEVER talk about what color the sky is with his daughter until she was about 4. When he finally did ask she either had no idea or said anything but blue.

There are some pretty nutty experiments that you can do revolving around an infants development. Stupid ethics always has to be stopping the fun...

I think I understood pretty early on that brown was just dark orange, from a big box of crayons I had as a kid. I struggled to tell col ors like “red orange” and “ orange red” apart, and thus quickly realized that many of the colors that seemed more distinct to me were really just blends of other colors. I see brown the same way that I see midnight blue, or royal purple, or maroon, or pine green. They’re al l just darker shades.
