I painted this in acrylics a while ago. Due to complications, I painted it on a piece of wood rather than a canvas. Here is my reference image (taken by me !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ).
Oh, and morning Oppo!

Very nice, good work! My daughter did this in watercolor for my birthday a couple of years ago. It’s her and me in my car in a parade. It’s framed and on the wall in my office now. :)

It draws me in and much more than the photo does. What have you done with the painting?

Contrast and focus.
I just made sure to draw the eye to the more detailed areas using the rule of thirsa, which I didn't use when I took the photo

No! I mean, how have you displayed it? What’s its finished size? Would you consider sending me a high-rez scan of it so I can print a copy and hang it in my classroom?

Very cool! Love automotive art, I just wish I had money for it.

Oh. I would be honored. I don’t actually have it here right now, but I could probably scan it tomorrow if you would like. I will let you know if I do. It is about 18 inches by 10 inches (my best guess).
I didn’t realize this was good enough to showcase in a stranger’s classroom. What specifically drew you to request it?

I asked myself the same question. The image is very granular and captures much about the scene that is not attractive at all. Your painting smooths that over. Take the wing window on the C-10, for example. You’ve chosen a very pleasant green, and made the window solid in that color. Likewise for the van in the background. The original photo is dusty and dirty and decrepit. Your painting is something entirely else. And I love that the C-10 emblem is drawn out.
I’ve always been suspect of artists, like, when does something cross over and become art ? This painting has. Watercolor has taken something dirty and creepy and taken it to a soothing place where you’d want to be.
I really like it. Have you mounted it, or is it still on its original paper? And I am curious as to the original dimensions...
Are you an art student?

I actually think this turned out as a great example as to how artistic license and decisions can transform into something unique. I am not an art student, but I do have an eye for color and detail. I actually enjoyed mixing the colors more than painting itself.
This is actually painted on a piece of smooth composite wood that you would use to back a mixed media thing with no frame . It was originally going to be mixed media, but I thought the paint was turning out too well to try to add in extra texture.
I can’t give much more info until I look at it closer tomorrow, since it has been a few months.
What subject do you teach?

8th grade math. I also side hustle in academic coaching and home repair.
You? What’s your day job?
As for art school, I find water color fascinating because how many detail you leave out versus how many you include. Things I do I’d consider elegant at times, but not really artful .

It’s acrylic paint, not watercolor. But I will not be able to scan it tomorrow, but I believe I could take a high quality photo with no glare straight on without all the compression.
I am surprised you have any time to work on the Crown Victoria with all that hustling!

Whatever works. If you could scan it, and it wasn’t as soon as tomorrow, that’d be fine as well.

This one is just a precisely cropped photo, since I do not have access to a scanner that would fit such a large piece. Unfortunately, I think this is the best I can do.
Here is the size, since you asked.
