This 1955 DeSoto Fireflite was purchased for its Hemi engine, but the body was deemed too rusty to be worth restoring. However, rather than letting it go to waste, its owner, Dave Mackey, body-swapped it onto a shortened Ford F-250 chassis for Gambler 500 purposes. This thing is awesome.

Ok I thought this was cool, then I saw that he’s actually USING it. 15k miles on the build, and it sounds like it’s off road quite a bit, too.
Awesome.

This is very interesting. I like the story, but there’s another unexpected side that has me thinking.
My great grandfather on my mom’s side owned the Desoto dealer I showed the stuff from earlier. Well, his daughter in law (my grandmother) had the maiden name Mackey! Purely a coincidence I’m sure, but a VERY strange coincidence.
