So far, 2020 has not gone well.

Explainer:

Yesterday, I (and 59 colleagues) we’re laid off after our company had a bad year nationally. So now I am temporarily unemployed.

It isn't performance related, I was just low man on the totem pole. Goodbye fun job and goodbye car allowance.

Good thing I didn’t just buy a house! Oh...

There are other things too, but I’m healthy and everything will work out eventually.

I’m in roughly the same boat via some reorganization in my office stemming from a merger. My workplace ceased being fun some time ago, so I am not completely crushed. Sometimes a little kick in the butt leads to better things, or forces one to move on from a stuck path when they should have some time ago.

Think positive, you’re smart and live in an area with a strong economy, you’ll land on your feet as strong as ever.

I’ve been there. I had ten jobs in as many years. Layoffs suck and sometimes the job search feels worse. You’re going to be ok.

Tighten the belt a bit, update the resume, find something to pay the bills. If you’re in a good position, l ook for something good that will build the career.

Haggerty doesn’t have a strong presence in BC due to the fact we’re a province with a Crown insurer. They have 3 jobs in Canada all in ON right now.
