Such sour attitudes there. No one likes/buys 2 door trucks anymore.
Have a 2 door Jeep Gladiator for your time.

I think the main problem is that no one likes 2 door trucks anymore. and by “likes” I mean “buys”.

Because people who only need 2 doors usually need, at most, two cars. And I say this coming from a family of 5 whose parents both dailied 2-door cars when we were teens (my car was the family hauler).

I’d go back to a two-door truck, but make it an extended cab. I lived with a regular cab mini truck and there just wasn’t enough room behind the seat to carry items that you don’t want exposed to the elements.

It’s hard to justify buying a 2 door truck when the 4 door isn’t that much more money and provides waaaaay more utility. With the only sacrifices being parking lot manors and looks.

Toyota might have the best examples, overall:
Unpopular opinion:
Not a family car, but still...
But, by my own definition, this totally counts:

right - I see all these huge crew cab long bed contractor trucks downtown on job sites, and it’s just one guy driving the thing. I know they are cool - but 97.4% of the time it’s just one person in them.

I still don’t know how I walked out with a brand new Silverado for $19k. I’d pay * more* than that for a modern 2-door compact truck. Hell, I'd pay more than that for an early 2000's taco that was built today with no changes.

Owned two Dakotas, first one a regular cab R/T which was great but with no storage inside. Didn’t think it was a problem until I bought my 97 extended cab two years ago, that extra space makes the truck much more livable in day to day situiations.
As for the gladiator Its too big and too long to fit in my garage, expensive, and doesnt come in regular or extended cab. Why would I want
a regular cab? Because its purpose would be to replace my 02 WJ which fits just about
anywhere a TJ can go.

My main issue with this Gladiator is how long it is. We had a Teamster drive his into the loading dock one show to load something he wanted and it was like a limo. I think a smaller back seat with a smaller rear door would be a nice option. I guess it wasn’t necessarily designed for off road but I can’t see it doing very much with that huge length.

As much as I would love a 2-door, extended-cab Gladiator, I recognize that I am one of like... 5 people that would actually buy them. I understand why FCA doesn’t make it.

I mean, yeah, but more seats = more utility (just a different kind).
I regularly refer to my Tacoma
(yes, a four-door short bed) as the Swiss Army knife of vehicles. Not the best at any one thing, but usable in so many ways.

Yeah, not exactly agile in the tight stuff.
That said:
“ Those concerned about the Gladiator’s breakover angle should be comforted to know that a Mopar two-inch lift, available direct from your dealer, will allow you to fit 37-inch tires. That’s something no other vehicle in its segment can do, even with the full might of the automotive aftermarket behind them”

I think this gets overlooked a lot in the “why don’t people buy the trucks oppo likes” debate.
Small trucks/single cab trucks don’t typically offer significant savings, so there’s very little incentive for people to buy them. I love small trucks and I’d be hard pressed to not pay 10,000K more for ‘double the truck’

Too much money and emphasis on superficial spending today
is unfortunate. I’d prefer a 1000 sf house over my current one. I want to keep my 2400 sf shop though. Even better would be to build a kitchen and bedroom into the shop.
