If there ever was a Initial D based in Europe, Duran Duran would’ve mad e for a nice Eurobeat to it.

They must have had a thing for Barbarella, as it shows Jane Fonda’s Barbarella character in the video you posted.

One of their other songs is Electric Barbarella.

I’ll let you find the video, as it may be considered a bit NSFW.

Duran Duran was a bit risque, with Rio, and Girls on Film, and some others... they seemed to enjoy their fame in the 1980s quite well.

I don’t mind Duran Duran at all, but lately, I have been going to long-time favorites A -h a, Tears for Fears, Howard Jones, Wang Chung, some of the Cure’s less angsty stuff, Thomas Dolby, Simple Minds, Alphaville, When In Rome, Human League, ABC, and a more recent addition to my new wave playlist... A Flock of Seagulls’ Space-age Love Song.

I do find it quite ironic that a band with a trademark hairstyle, now can no longer be recognized as such.

Maybe it is my age, but I find this so much more ‘listenable’ than a lot of current pop.

Video hadn’t fully killed the radio star quite yet in the 1980s, but video/image consciousness has killed significant parts of the musicianship of popular music since, IMHO.
